I'm starting my sleeve journey and beginning to complete all of the pre-operative testing. I'm curious to know, for those who have sleeved, what are your biggest regrets about getting the sleeve? What would you have done differently? Why?

I would have changed my surgeon to someone that was more personable & informative. He also prescribed me meds to get filled after leaving the hospital that I could not afford WITH GOOD INSURANCE & when I called him he couldn't have cared less. He commented that "Well, some people don't even have insurance & have to pay for it. There is a reason why we prescribe things. You were supposed to pick up everything. I don't prescribe anything else (as a substitution)." So, then I called my PCP & she called in everything I needed. It all cost me less than $50. She is awesome. He performed the surgery well, but as far as "bedside manners", not so great in that area. He also was not thorough with most of the instructions that he gave. He always seems rushed.

The original script that my surgeon gave was all written on one, so the pharmacy would not split it up & give me just some of it. He would not re-write them seperately. Also, the original script he gave totaled a little over $200. He'd prescribed me an antibiotic for precautionary measures & that was the bulk of the expense. (just wanted to give more clarification)

Sorry, it's me again!! lol...As far as having the surg, I wouldn't change that. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself.

I realize that there is going to be seperation anxiety from the food that I have built a relationship with, and I thank you all for helping me comprehend the hurrdles that I am going to face and the satisfication of finally jumping over those hurdles. You can definitely find better doc's to work with! My doc office actually prescribed everything a few weeks early in case insurance didn't cover or something was too expensive and so I would have everything at home and ready for me when i got home after surgery.

I know you didn't ask me but my doc also gave me anti-nausea med, an anti-anxiety med and another med to help woth spasms. They just make sure you have everything just in case which was really nice to already have them.

I am going to Honestly give the same "cliche" response as alot of other... My only regret is not doing this sooner... By far one of the best choices I have EVER made for myself!

Hi there, Sorry, but I don't remember the names of them, with the exception of Hydrocodone Elixir (spelling?). One was for anti-nausea, other for pain, other was anti-biotic. Hope I'm not leaving anything out. My PCP said that I didn't need the anti-biotic (the pricey one of them all) & part of the reason was b/c I'd already been home for a certain amt of days & it wouldn't be as effective anyway as if would've been had I gotten it asap.

No regrets. Dealing with the hunger when only being allowed 600 calories a day is very difficult though. That's the only bad thing for me. I'm always hungry and feel that I am constantly struggling on a strict diet (which I am).

I regret that I didn't take the 6 month pre op diet very seriously. I wish I would have taken that time to practice eating slowly and thoroughly, along with getting in lots of fluids, familiarizing myself with high protein foods, and detoxing from certain things like sugar and carbs. I think that would have made the first month a lot easier, both emotionally and physically.

I for one have no regrets! But I'm going to say this to all my Pre Sleevers do research on your surgeon I originally was scheduled with this one surgeon and luckily was told by a friend about negative issues with him. I changed surgeons and was so happy I did I love my surgeon and the hospital they go the extra mile to ensure safety and provide council and information.

My only regret is that I did not do I sooner. 6 months out and I am feeling awesome!

My only regret is not trying to lose weight or eat healthy pre op. Once I had my date set, I ate so much that I gained around 10 pounds! I recommend taking the pre op very seriously so you'll be that much closer to goal. No need for food funerals.
