I had barium swallow - the worst thing possible. They give u worlds nastiest stuff to drink in swallows. I had to do it three times and threw up in the middle. I'd never felt worse - that had to be the hardest part of all this for me personally

I agree. Hardest part of the entire thing. Thankfully it doesn't last long.

I am having my VSG on July 31st. I feel like I have a pretty high pain tolerance level. However I am curious to know what the pain after surgery was like for everyone else? I have had 2 c-sections and wanted to try and compare to that. Thanks!!!

Hey! I also have twins, 2 years old! I had2 c-sections (Also have a 5 year old) as well as a hernia repair after my twins, and a fibroid surgery after my first pregnancy. I am 4 days out from my sleeve and it was a piece of cake compared to the other abdominal surgeries. I can sit up on my own, and was able to shift around in the bed rather easily from the beginning. It's seriously been so easy compared to the c-section. Also, haven't need nearly as much pain meds for this one. I hope it's as comparatively easy for you too!

Ok, so I thought I would breeze through this no problem. Woke up from surgery with massive dry heaving and pain. Found out that the Morphine was making me very nausiated. They changed me to di lauded and now massive gas pains. Wondering if I made the right decision. I just want to cry. Hurt so badly. I even have a second belly button from the swelling. Need encouragement.

I was sleeved on Monday the 22. I went through the same thing. Woke up from anethesia feeling terrible. I had dry heaving and gas pains. It was so bad they were considering keeping me another night in the hospital. After trying morphine and dilauded they finally gave me percocet. I was able to get a 3 hr nap, and woke feeling much better. I can definitly tell when it's time for my pain meds but I'm sure everyday will get better.

Hang in there, this will get better!

I was discharged yesterday evening and had a prett goood night at home last night.

They sent me home from the hospital with Protonix and the nurse impressed the importance of ulcer prevention on me even though I said every PPI i tried had given me a headache. Well, sure enough, yesterday was day 4 on protonix and I had an unbearable headache. Ended up taking my pain meds twice last night for the headache! I just did some reading online and ordered myself some aloe vera juice which is supposedly able to cure acid reflux. I guess i will call my doc's office in the morning and ask about it. But I can't livewith headaches like that!!

It's great to be home. I've taken my first shower starting sipping my Water. I got my two tums down this morning waiting until 9 for the Multivitamin. Not to be gross I've even passed gas I'm so happy. I can feel it making its way down in my system but its such a relief as it passes, it takes so much pressure off my stomach.

Home care nurse is due at 10 so I'm up and about getting some walking in.

Have a great day sleeves!

I stopped taking my morphine while in the hospital. I couldn't function and the heaving was killing my sore stomach!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
