How Many Carbs?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am pre-op with surgery scheduled for May 1st. I am not all that familiar with low carb diets... can you give me an idea of how many carbs you eat per day? I assume this increases as you increase your calories?

I know that you need good carbs, and I don't think that carbs are demons. But I have heard that reduced carbs reduces cravings of sugary foods and other high carb foods.

I would love to hear your thoughts!

I'm 2 weeks post op and am getting about 50-75 carbs a day. I use the LoseIt! App to track. I was getting much less and felt like crap so I increased them. Almost all my carbs are still from the milk I mix with my shakes.

I'm 6 weeks out and I seem to stay around 60 or under. I was going to aim for 20 or under but that's REALLY hard. Somehow, I could eat less carbs pre sleeve on Atkins induction . Not sure what's going on.

Anyway. I feel pretty good.

Carbs from fruit and veggies shouldn't count once you are off any special diet for healing. After that you get to play the no added sugars games and chasing your protien intake. In all honesty carbs aren't going or shouldn't be a concern if you are eating how you should. Take good advantage of these NUTs and get the diet right for you.

I am getting ready to start solids on Friday! My plan is to eat my Protein, then my veggies before I even think about trying to add a starch. I get most my carbs daily from fat free milk, Greek yogurt and fat free cottage cheese. These things feel safe for me so I will continue to consume as a snack and protein supplement!

I was sleeved on 4/1/13. I was given the following guidelines:

A diet consisting of 600-800 calories, 70-75 grams of Protein, 40-60 grams of carbs and 20-30 grams

of fat should be the goal for the first 6 months.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
