My love affair with food is FINALLY over!

Recommended Posts

Tonight I realized that my love affair with food has come/is quickly coming to an end. The things I used to drool over no longer have any effect on me. A couple bites and I am completely satisfied. No more eating Breakfast while daydreaming about what I'm having for lunch and dinner. I have to admit that it makes me kind of sad. Food was such a huge crutch for me for so long. However, I'm loving the new me!! Just thinking out loud. Hope you are all doing well on your journeys.

Congrats! That is so great to hear! I know what you mean about just a couple bites satisfying you. If i'm craving pizza, for example, just 1 small square is enough to sate my craving, then i could care less about it. I've also found that i really start to crave things if i haven't eaten enough. So once i eat something, i no longer want the other stuff. It is so nice not to be a slave to food anymore!!

There's a good chance your love affair will be rekindled at some point. Fair warning.

Congrats! It sounds awesome to be in control. Unfortunately, I only lost hunger for a couple weeks and am now more obsessed with food than I ever was. It's in a different way- all about healthy choices and such, but I don't have that freedom from the cravings and head hunger.

Sorry that is your experience. I didn't say I lost hunger. I said I'm satisfied after a couple of bites. That, for me, is a big deal.

Sorry, it was kind of a debbie downer post. I wasn't trying to dampen your excitement. It IS very awesome to be satisfied with only a few bites! I was just trying to inject some reality because in the first few months many many people feel they have conquered their love affair with food, but very often when they are further out and can eat more food...especially when you become aware of your slider foods...you realize that your love affair will rear it's ugly head again if you aren't very conscious about keeping it in check. I say it because knowledge is power. Knowing it will help you to conquer it. but yes, being satisfied with only a few bites is a wonderful thing!!

Just because you failed doesn't mean everyone else will, "fair warning"

Who said I failed? I've been around the boards for awhile and have read many a thread pertaining to this very issue. You have two posts, but thanks for setting me straight.

I'm dealing with that now actually having some issues with depression because of it. I don't miss the food but something's got me down :(

I agree totally. The first 2 months I was disgusted with food and my appetite and cravings have slowly returned. I am still winning the fight but it is much harder than I thought it would be. Good luck.

Hi, I will pray for you & I also wish you the best. Don't be afraid to speak with a professional (Dr, counselor, pastor) to get the support/help that you need. If it is truly depression, please don't ignore it. Now, you may have meant this loosely, but in case you are serious, I just know it can get you down if unattended to. Inbox me if needed. Best wishes!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
