Anyone here had plastics in Costa Rica? If so, who did you use, what procedures did you have done, and how was your experience overall? Thanks!

I've researched Costa Rica through Arrivacostarica.com and other like sites. That being said, I think I'm going to use Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey, Mexico.

Thank you so much for responding. I looked at your profile and our stats are almost exactly the same. You had surgery two months before me though. I know you aren't at goal yet but do you have an idea of when you'll plan to have plastics done? And what are you thinking of having done? I be looking into getting a BL and possibly a TT, if I need it. Like you, Dr. Sauceda is at the top of my list also.

I have been reading a lot about Dr. Lev in CR and he seems to be very highly regarded. It seems that he is THE MAN to go to for a facelift. Would like to find someone who has used him for BL & TT.

Here's a question for you. I've seen Dr. Sauceda's price list. Is that list in stone or do you know if he lowers the price when two or more procedures are done? For example, a medium TT is $4400 and a BL is $4500. I understand that he refunds $600 for the airfare if one has over $6000 in surgery. But assuming I had the above two procedures done, would he charge me a total of $8900? Or, would the two procedures combined be a little less? Just thought you might know since you are sort of ahead of me in research. Thanks!

This is where I am. The earliest I can do plastics is October. Doctors want you to be a year out and have maintained your weight. It really depends on my job and my husband's job. If things don't work out for this Fall, I will have to push it back to summer 2014. I need an upper AND lower body lift. I'm also thinking about a brow and neck lift too, I would think the more procedures you have done at one time, the price would be less for the simply fact that you are only using the OR and medical team once. I haven't seen a price list from Dr. Sauceda, he wants pics first and since I'm still at least 6 months away, I'm not comfortable sending pics yet....

Have you checked out my Youtube page? Also are you a member of Sassy Sleevers on FB? Check them out, they are full of info.

I too have been checking out the much loved Dr S. I have talked on the phone to his patients and I think I have a good picture of that situation. Great prices and I think good value. All in all, he does great work.

I have also discussed the out of country option with local surgeons, both during plastics consults and with other surgeons who have no financial interest. I think I have a fair assessment of the increased risks too. Bottom line, the out of country surgeons do jumbo procedures - a whole bunch at once that USA surgeons will not even consider doing. Each of us has to decide our risk tolerance because for most people that will be just fine... but when it is not, it isn't.

Anyway, it is tough because the local surgeon option is so incredibly costly - figure 2-3X as much as a doc like Dr S.

Yes, Dr. Sauceda seems to be very will-liked. I've looked and looked and I can't seem to find one bad review or post about him. I would only plan on having the two proedures done at one (BL & TT) which I don't think is unusual for surgeons to her in the States. I would not ever consider having 4, 5, 6, etc procedures at once. When are you thinking of having surgery? What other doctors have you researched?

Be careful in researching...people tend to sell their own surgeon pretty hard. Naysayers are dismissed etc. that doesn't mean i think Dr S is bad...just realize how biased internet reviews are.

I have talked to him alot and plan on booking for July. He does offer discounts when combing procedures. Does refund 600 in airfare, and it is all inclusive (including the hotel if over a certain $ amount) he has been amazing at answering all my questions.... And I have a lot of them. Lol. Hope that helps.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
