Outer thigh numbness

Recommended Posts

I was just sleeved Tuesday last week and noticed the other day that both my outer thighs are numb. There's no pain or anything but just a tingly feeling. Called the doc and he said it had nothing to do with the surgery and it's probably caused by the way I was positioned on the table. I'm still kind of worried though.

Any thoughts/previous experience on this?

Apologies if there's already an existing thread in this.

Forgot to add that they also had my gallbladder taken out during the surgery.

I have had thigh numbness from back issues, pinched nerves.

I had that when I was having problems with my sciatic nerve. It sounds like it might be from laying flat on your back for surgery so long. Mine went away after a few months.

I have scatica and hadn't had any problems in forever until the day after surgery it flared up. I think it was the horrible hospital bed and only laying on my back. Mine started with the numbness and quickly moved to the pain radiating in my thigh like I am being shocked. It hurts! Been to the chiro 3 times and also bought a tens unit and it really helps.

This happened to me also. I had numbness in one of my thighs after surgery which was definitely due to all the laying on my back. My tail bone area hurt SO much. Its been 5 months and I still don't have feeling back in that spot unfortunately. Hoping it returns eventually!

I had it quite often before surgery. It's a pinched nerve for me but may get better with weight loss. Could also be how you are sitting or laying down. It's worse when I lay on my back too.

I used to get this numbness back when i was 300+ i went to the doc and he said its cause your "big" back then my thigh would give out randomly then it went away on its own

Well now it's back It gets worse at night ill wake up in the middle of the night and when I try to get up I feel like rubber bands snapping inside my thigh and a tingly numbness but it goes away in the day time

Any one been told how to get rid of it, my doc says everything is cause I'm still big at 185 hum time for a new doc that actually has an answer

I hate it when drs blame everything on your weight!! I have that rubberband snapping feeling when mine is acting up. it's always at night or when I've been sitting in one position for a long time. I will roll over in my sleep at night and will wake me right up with the pain in my thigh. a good chiro can really help relieve the pain of sciatica. a tens unit will help even more. best 50 bucks I've spent!

Sounds like a pinched nerve. Have you tried doing some stretching? The "hang" works great for me. Bend at the waist the best you can and let your arms hang loose toward the floor. It stretches and decompresses your spine. Hope you feel better!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
