Recommended Posts

I didn't. But ppl will say they did. And then they'll say it's ok..... But in reality it's not. So don't!

I didn't either. Healing was the only thing that mattered.

no cheating, think of the damage you might do. Is it worth it?????

Perhaps you should think of counseling to help you modify your behaviours. Just a thought.

Yes and no - yes from the perspective that I had various mushy and soft Proteins during the first couple of weeks, but no, I didn't cheat in that I was following my doc's plan which combines the liquids, mushy/purees and soft proteins together in the initial phase from the hosptal on out for the first month (yogurt and scrambled eggs in the hospital along with broths and juices,) The over riding key instruction was to test new foods for tolerance one at a time and in small quantities as patients can vary widely in what they can tolerate and when. With some twenty years of sleeve experience behind it, I find it difficult to argue that his program is overly aggressive, risky or unwise.

It wasn't worth it to me to cheat and risk not healing properly or having problems later on down the road.

No, during the liquid stage, I could barely drink water... there's no way I could've had anything more than that. I was so afraid of hurting my new sleeve... I just wanted to heal. I was told that Water was the most important thing in that early stage so I concentrated on that..

I don't think I would have been able to if I wanted. I just moved into puree and had the hardest time eating tonight. It's only a couple of weeks you can do it :)

If you're talking about pre op I did cheat once, but it was only a handful of air popped popcorn... I was super strict the last few days to make sure my stomach was nice and empty! I was allowed raw veggies and a small low carb meal with my shakes until a few days before surgery

I am guessing you are Pre-op. If you are Pre-op its not as crucial, since some doctors do not even have a Pre-op diet ( Dr.Jaime Ponce Deleon for example). There are different schools of thought on it and how it helps the liver. I plan to do it faithfully because it will help my stomach shrink and that will give me a better result after surgery. The 3 days of clear liquid are very important to clean you out for surgery. Don't beat yourself up, but realize that you have more self control than you realize. Hope this helps!!

Nope, followed the doctors instructions to the letter. You have to give your sleeve time to heal, let the swelling go down and let your body adjust before advancing your diet. I trusted my doctors enough to cut into me, I trusted that their instructions were for my best interests.

Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
