Gastric sleeve in NZ?

Recommended Posts

I meant to ask' date=' what made you go to Mexico to get sleeved?[/quote']

Hi! I had a dr that would do it for me here but it was $17,000

In Mexico it's $5,500 including everything! 2 nights in a hospital & 2 nights in a hotel down the st. And the drs there do as many surgerys in a month as a dr here would do in a year. Also I'm having a single incision surgery (not sure if they do that here) I leave next Wednesday!

Oh awesome! That's a huge savings. I have seen loads of people on the forum having their surgery in Mexico. Best of luck to you :-)

I am not sure they do a single incision here? Don't know they would unless it were quite a big one.

Keep us posted on your progress :-)

No it's to opposite! U have to be under 30 BMI for the single. They go in through your belly button so no scar - ... Fingers crossed

Maybe we should do a New Zealand Facebook group?

Good luck Rollagirl!

I am almost 3 weeks post op and doing great. I am finding eating a bit of trial and error at the moment but taking it slow. no cravings at all except felt for a coffee which I went cold turkey on and have had. Had to chat to the nutritionist before I did :-)

Still in the puréed stage though.

Started exercising properly yesterday, and have such motivation to succeed....I am certainly on a high with this new chapter of my life. Although a bit tired.... Baby steps

Weigh in on Tuesday :-)

Awesome! I am 3 days out - relaxing at the hotel in Mexico. Things could not of gone better. I want to go home and be an advocate for people who can't afford to spend $17,000 in Nz that this is a great option. Can't wait to be 3 weeks out ... Now I'm feeling like I've done 1000 sit ups lol

So glad everything went so well! I was still feeling really horrible 3 days out ... the next 6 weeks are pretty tough socially but after that your pretty much back to normal :) are u on shakes only for 3 weeks then puree for 2-3?

Hi there

I am just about at 13 months post surgery and have past the 50 kilo loss point. It is pretty damn awesome.

I am another Aucklander and had my sleeve done privately in Epsom with Stephanie Ulmer. She was amazing.

Always happy to share anything about my journey to date :-)

Doing good! 7 & 1/2 months out and down 45 kilos :) 5 more till I'm at my goal of a healthy BMI range! All going well except a slightly dodgey gallbladder that may need to be removed :(

Thank you. The package I got was around $21K

I don't attend any support groups, I didn't know there were any here. Though I don't think I have had the need to either. I know a couple of others who have had the sleev and a few who have had the bypass so that has been really good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
