I am such a nut! I did not know ....

Recommended Posts

I am now on day 7 of my liquid pre op diet and I did not know that I could have sugar free Jello and popsicles. I am excited and mad at myself at the same time!!! My pre op diet instructions state that I can have:

"Sugar free clear liquds (like Crystal Light or sugar free Kool-Aid) and water"

That is it... that is all it says. However, tonight I was reading another paper that was for post op and it described Clear liquids as being a, "Fluid or food that can almost be seen through" and they actually list the jello and popsicles!

I have a feeling that they are allowed for the pre op diet also and they just did not list them as an example. Going to call the doctor's office in the morning to verify. It would be soooooo much easier to bear the next 5 days if I could eat Jello and sugar free pudding!

Yes, Jello and ice popsicles are great as well as clear broths but pudding, creamy broths or creamy popsicles are not considered "clear liquids".

Yes pudding would be on your full liquid but not on clear liquid as you can't see through it.

Now, the pre op diet is a bit different than the clear liquid diet post op. The pre op diet has to have no carbs. No carbs is what will shrink your liver. My nut specifically said No carbs and No sugar during pre op. So I would closely check the Jello and Popsicles for carbs and sugar.

Clear chicken broth is good, and gives you a break from all the sweeter tasting drinks.< /p>

OOOOPPPppps I mean Jello not pudding : )

@Christie - I am still going to check with my Dr. when they open because your right, it is possibly I understood it all correctly to begin with : (

@Jay- YES!!! broth is a BIG help with getting that "food" taste. I made a really good Hibachi broth that has helped and is less sodium.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
