@libbyb .... The pill does help some what. I got on the pill because of my pcos I would have my period twice a month or not even at all and i had HORRRRIBLE headaches like 10/10 now being on the pill they are like 9/10 lol so it only helps a minimal amount for me but all girls are different and react to the pill in different ways. I tried depo shot at first and it was horrible it made me gain weight and have my period/spotting im not even joking for over 3 months straight!!!! its made my periods less heavy and on schedule for once in my life lol but it still made me gain a little bit of weight at first not too much and it didnt help with cysts rupturing or anything uhg but im hopeful this surgery will!!

Yeah I know how you feel !! Some times I cant recognize if it's gas or hunger pains lol so I just drink a Protein shake ... It's so awesome I haven't met any one with my surgery date yet :) I'm going try driving today I haven't taken my pain medication in 6-7 hours. The only thing I don't like so far is the sicknicking feeling I get when I don't get my Protein in so every shake I make Make it with 35gms and make it very small. I'm getting it down fine so it's helping with my protein. I just get very full on loose liquid like broth or Soup I can't even finish a half a Jello.

I had to have a MRI as well to rule out tumors on my pituitary gland. I was freaked, but so glad that I did it. I needed to have it done to be cleared as well. I haven't had a Migraine since my surgery! I've had headaches but nothing like before. Prior to vsg I was diagnosed with PCOS, hyperprolactenemia, and metabolic x syndrome. I still have issues with my prolactin levels. I had a nasty nasty cyst in January and ended up getting the mirena. As mentioned before- had a horrible experience, but now I finally stopped spotting!! I stopped about a week ago. I might be a fan of the mirena after all. Lol.

I hope the u get the clearance soon- the sleeve makes all the difference in the world!

Hey ladies! So Im about to have my VGS in June and the number one factor has got to be because of my PCOS! I just wanted to know if anyone else out there in VGS land have these same issues and if anything has changed since surgery? So Im currently 277lbs and knockin on 300's door. ( uhg) but ever since I graduated highschool I began gaining weight without even eating bad and didnt know why. I would have chronic Migraines ' date=' irregular periods ( sometimes 2 times a month or not at all) pains in my lower abdomen, acne breakouts, back pain etc and no answers! 2 years ago I finally was diagnosed with PCOS AND WAS PUT ON BIRTH CONTROL TO CONTROL My symptoms and issues. I gained weight on the pill in order to have a regular period but Im still dealing with headaches and migraines EVERY SINGLE DAY, my cysts rupture causing extreme cramping, pain and bleeding! I was told that I cant have kids as of right now. although not physically on my period, I get all of my period symptoms and craving so its causing me to gain more and more weight. Now my knees hurt, my back hurts ( Did I mention Im flat footed as well?) I cant work out because of my constant migraines and pain its horrible! I feel like a failure! I was losing weight and at 190lbs when I developed this and it caused me to go down hill now I feel like a complete freaking failure. When I heard about this surgery I was ALL OVER IT! They told me that getting this surgery and losing this weight will make my PCOS go away, no more chronic migraines, no more infertility, no more cysts rupturing! I couldnt believe it! Im praying to God it works! Its taking such a toll on my life, physically, emotionally and even my schooling. Can anyone out there relate to my pain and able to testify that this surgery helps make PCOS go away!??!?!?!?!?! Advice needed! thank you!!!!!!!! :)

I there my surgery date is set for June as well and I have PCOS too. I am at 300lbs and it's not fun. I was told that PCOS isn't something you catch you're born with it and as you get I let the symptoms start. As long as I could remember I had hair on my chin and chest. the symptoms got worse as I got older. Like you, I pray that this surgery works. I'm ready to put in the effort it requires to make it work I just hope my body don't turn on me (stalls, carb cravings, mood swings)

Hi ladies! I too have PCOS. I was diagnosed when I was 20. My doctor told me if I didn't have kids by 30 I never would. My hubby and I tried for 6 years and it never happened so by 30 I gave up. At 32 I decided it was time to lose weight I had gotten up to 335 lbs!! I lost 40 lbs and was really proud of myself (not to mention how cute I was) lol. 2 months after the weight loss by baby boy came on the seen!! I was lucky because I only gained 15 lbs wit my pregnancy!!

Now 5 years later I was back up to 363 lbs. I had surgery on 4/29 and I'm down to 324 lbs. My periods hav always been irregular well actually none existent. But it came a few days ago and I'm hoping this isn't regular. That was the only part of PCOS I ENJOYED!! Lol

I guess there are different PCOS symptoms in everyone because I didn't have Migraines or Hair growth. We figured out it was hereditary because my mom had it as well and she was on the other end of the spectrum, too small. She had me at 33 and that was the first time she weighed over 100 lbs!! So go figure!! Good luck to you all!!

Hi! I'm 32 I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 21. I too was told I would never be able to have kids without medical intervention. It was devastating and extremely depressing. I've Carrie that depression with me all of these years. This is my #1 motivation for having this surgery. I've never had any medical problems besides morbid obesity and sleep apnea. After extensive research and learning the Sleeve had an extremely high percentage in curing PCOS, I jumped on it. I don't have a mate at the moment, but when that time does come around, I don't want any issues. I pray all is well.

I'm sooo glad I found this group. It feels great to know there are others out there that share your story and we can talk about this and help each other through.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
