Concerned about iron sleeve

I never really had restrictions on Water. I started slow, and when I rushed drinking I could feel it start to back up in the throat, so I'd just let it slide down. Now, coming up on 4 weeks post up, I don't have that feeling anymore. Eating things like pudding, yogurt, and such don't bother me as long as I take it slow. Beef has been the only thing that causes an issue, it just seems to take forever to go down and get through, so I've laid off beef for a while longer. If you're getting your calories, and your nutritionist has allowed what you're eating, just keep doing what you're doing. Have patience and just relax while eating. That's been the hardest part for me. My entire life, I grew up in a military family, we ate, put our dishes away and went back to work on the land. We rarely ever got to just sit and relax while eating.

But I often feel hungry. Tonight after I ate my 1/2 cup of sloppy joe I felt like I was still hungry. I didn't eat anything more for a couple hours, because that's what the plan says to do, but it's not how I feel.

During the first 12 weeks or so I often had hot herbal tea with Truvia or diet hot chocolate mix (25 calories) in the evenings around 8:30-9 pm. It helped out a LOT. Also a nice treat.

Thanks for the suggestion. I drank a lot of tea before the surgery, but haven't had any after. I'll try that!

To the OP, the goal is not to feel full but satisfied. This is a new eating experience for most. I had the band for 5 years before the sleeve so I learned this feeling and also ate slow and small amounts. It is better to have 6 small meals than three larger ones in my opinion. How about trying eating some more solid, soft food. Cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, soft fishes, canned meats, yogurt. I also ate very low carb for the majority of my weight loss. I ate Protein and incorporated some veggies closer to 3-4 months out. Carbs do make you hungry, I would try to stay away from any fruit you may be eating.

When you say low carb, how many carbs a day is considered low? I have been eating some puréed meat and cottage cheese the last couple days and have been feeling more restriction, so there is hope!

I'm hopping that the same happens to me. I'm just like pepper Paul because I was sleeved on the 11th also and can eat more then 4 ounces and still not be full' date=' I had a full hard boiled egg and never felt the fullness everyone says they feel so I waited 30 mins and then had 4 more ounces of apple sauce

Lexy; what you described is "grazing" which I learned from my Nutritionist. She told me to measure my food and eat it within thirty minutes. If I can't finish it then I don't go back to it later. Instead- I drink and dont eat anymore until it's time for the next meal. just thought I'd share this with you and hope it helps because grazing is a no-no for us all.

Pepper Paul I was able to eat and drink what seemed like a lot early on too. As time goes on, I do have restriction. I have been a bit fat and carb phobic because of all the low carb posts on this site but ideally if you are eating healthy, whole foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grains your carbs should be fine. We need Fiber and the phytonutrients that only those types of foods can provide. I think the advice I've read to ensure you get in your Water and Protein is the most sensible at this stage in your recovery. Great job on your success do far! Keep it going!

I understood grazing to mean eating small amounts of food all day. Never having defined meal times. I don't think Lexysdad is grazing. Generally it take 20 min for our brain to register satiety. If you eat a serving of food and wait awhile to see if you are satiated but find that your not, then it seems like eating a bit more to reach satiety should be ok. None of us want to eat only to then still be hungry.

The reason my NUT advises against that is that I'm supposed to wait an hour after each meal before drinking. If I had six small meals a day, the 6 hours plus 20 minutes/meal to eat would add up to 8 waking hours not drinking, which would make it impossible to get in all my fluids. So that may be why some people were told not to do that.

Well I guess I must have a bigger/longer sleeve I finally felt the fullness every one talks about but I had 1.5 hard boiled eggs, no worries I didn't keep going till I was going to burst I stopes when I felt satisfied witch was 1.5 eggs

Reason before I would eat 1 egg and wait to see if I was satisfied was that's what the doctor told me to do to wait and see if my brain process it to let me know I'm satisfied, also I think maybe the apple sauce would make it way to mushee and would instead make my food drop past my "sleeve" maybe that's way I wouldn't get the "full" feeling

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
