Just wondering how everyone has taken care of their drain site? My dr said to keep it covered for 7 days. I'm coming up on that 7 day mark and don't feel comfortable leaving it uncovered. My bandage has some blood and clear liquid on it daily so I don't really want to leave it uncovered. How did you all care for yours?

My doctor's instructions were to change the dressing over the drain site ONCE A DAY (with 2x2 gauze pad and 4x4 tegaderm). It definitely needed changing, as the first few days post-op I continued to ooze. I'm 10 days post-op today and its dry, but I keep changing it daily. Will do so until my 2 week post-op appointment, when I ask my doctor if it still needs to be covered.

When you say drain, do you mean you still have a drain inserted, or the incision sites?

After awhile I only loosely covered it so that anything coming into contact with it wouldn't irritate it. I remember thinking it was so uggy looking, but it turned out to heal very nicely.

Mine seemed to be taking a while to heal, probably because my big boobs covered it keeping it a bit damp. It also seemed a bit red around the edges, though not sore. It healed up nicely after I started putting a dab of bacitracin ointment on it morning and bedtime.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
