Unfortunately I too have to wait the 8 weeks and right now am feeling no restriction. I was starting to think that maybe this wasn't gonna work for me but read through this site and found out that most people don't feel restriction till after their first fill. Good Luck

My dr. required 6 weeks before first fill, then the fill doctor said he would do one every 3 weeks. My first two were 3 weeks apart but I haven't had another (been 4 mo.) but I think I'm ready again.....beginning to feel empty and hungry sometimes.

There is some research that suggest that the sooner you have a fill, the more likely you might suffere one of the dreaded complications.

This is not a sprint. I know this is very, very difficult time, this miserable in-betwen time where we worry about failure.

I had a small fill at either 5 or 6 weeks, don't remember which. 1cc total. Normally my surgeon goes a little more, but I was losing steadily and he wanted to make sure I didn't get overfilled (I was losing steadily because of my own efforts at this point, and b/c I simply had no appetite, but when I wanted to eat I certainly could without a peep from the band).

My Surgeon says 6 weeks. So I go in for my first fill 12/13/06.

This will be interesting. They have me on 700-900 calories a day,

They want 80 g of protien a day. Well with the shakes, there grtting

it. Once I get a fill? I don't no what to expect.

Any one out ther with suggestions? Shirley

Hi,

I was banded on the 28th Nov. The surgeon said I have to wait 3 months for my first fill. I wish it wasn't as long. I'm on liquids/mushies till then. I haven't felt really hungry as yet but have been told to eat little tins of Soup and milk puddings, porridge etc, I'm gonna try mashed veg/fruit soon - woo hoo - lifes little pleasures! Soup every day for 3 months! jeez :phanvan approx 800 cals per day - and no Protein Shakes, just a vitamin/mineral supplement.

I think this is the worst part of it all, can't wait to eat normal food again.

take care,

Yvonne

My first fill was at 4 weeks. I think it was about 1.5cc but I'm not sure. I need to find out what size band that I have. I have no idea how much it holds. My restriction is gone completely after 3 fills.

My doc feels that 8 weeks was good as well. I was always hungry til had my first fill. Now I am going again on December 14, we will see if he will even fill it some more. I lost more weight and he might feel that this fill is enough for me. Honestly I would like to feel more of a restriction.

I went on solids about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. I felt like I was starving.

So when I went for my post op, the Dietician said "have you tried solid foods yet? yes, How was it? o.k., not a problem. Then stay on solids, and

here is the total ounces, that you are to eat per meal 4." I said o.k., and I went with that. I try to stay under 900 cal. a day., but it's more like 960

a day, soooo, that's still not bad.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
