I have cliked on this link and advised me that it does not work..... can you help me out. I may have to send you a friend request directly because my page is private so that you can invite me.

I cannot PM you the link to my profile to be added as a friend. I know the link works, but I guess because it is private and a closed (invite only) group, it wont work. Seems silly, but reassures me this is truly a private page. I need to know how to get intouch with you without plastering my private info on the web as well.

Can you PM on here your e-mail addy that you use on Facebook? I can add you to the group that way.

I think it's a great idea but it still shows you added yourself to a group even if its closed. People just can't read what it's about but the name of the group tells it all. I'm not telling my Facebook friends/family and they are already asking how I'm losing my weight.

Ok, I see that I am using the incorrect terminology. This is a SECRET group. Not just a closed group, which, as you say, can be seen by your friends. I have attached a photo of the Facebook descriptions and the Group info for those interested.

NewMommy, I am not being argumentative at all. I believe what you say. I just want those who may be uncertain to be very clear that this group truly is SECRET.

PLEASE NOTE:If you e-mail to the Group address you see in the picture, it will go to the WHOLE group. So please e-mail me directly ar museummamma@facebook.com. Thank you.

Museum-Mama, you're right about the difference between closed & secret groups. I belong to 3 other secret groups on FB & nothing shows up anywhere from them, except in my view on my newsfeed. Not the name of the group, no posts, no pictures, etc. I look forward to being a part of this one, too. :)

Ok friends' date=' if you want a Facebook group, I need some e-mail addresses! Please private message them to me rather than just posting them out in the open....unless you feel comfortable doing that. Or you can PM me on facebook at museummamma@facebook.com. Again, this will be a closed, and private group. You have to request to be added.

I can't get this started unless I have some people to add from the start up!

Please and thank you![/quote']

Thanks Brenda0928, you are doing great as well. I feel like a new person, I'm so happy I had this surgery. This past week I have been stalled at 300lbs....so close to 299...it's killing me...lol I haven't weighed in the 200's for 20+years.

blackcloudkygirl, you are doing awesome, how did you loose so much before surgery?

Hi ecteacher. There are a few reasons on why I lost so much pre surgery...first, I did the 4 week nutrition classes, plus I had already begun following a weightwatchers like plan about 3 weeks or so before the nutrition classes started. I really followed the WW plan because I was afraid my insurance wouldn't let me have the surgery if I didn't show I could lose. So I lost about 35+ lbs then, but my surgeon asked me to go on the liquid pre op diet for 4 weeks, opposed to the normal 2 weeks. He said, the more I could lose before surgery, the safer and better my body would react. So 4 weeks of a liquid diet, was crazy and I could never ever do it again, it took all I had...lol I lost about 40 lbs on the pre op diet. I never cheated on the liquid diet, cause I was so afraid of having complications in surgery. It seems so crazy to me as we'll to have lost so much before surgery, but I have so much to lose, that in retrospect it's not actually that much.

How are you doing after the surgery, everything going good?

-Christy

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
