  3. I have a feeding tube currently. I had surgery 6/13/24 for revision to RNY. I had 2 emergency surgeries 3 days later. I had a leak and had 7liters of toxic fluids cleaned out of me then ICU 6 days and hospital until the end of July. It has been 10 months + with wound vac, Gtube, and now a stricture that I've had 3 balloon procedures and still not halfway there. Total of 6 hospital stays, 4 ER visits, 7 surgeries since June 2023. I'm getting better. Feeding tube helps but also causes alot of pain and granulated tissue which has to be burned off. I have found 4 people who have talked about the same issues. A leak like this and a stricture is very uncommon. Most people with leaks end up dying. It's why you don't hear about them. I'm not sure why anyone would require a feeding tube other than a major stricture or leak. Maybe due to already having so much scar tissue. They think that is why I had a leak but nobody knows. For reference. I had lapband 2008. Lapband Removal 2019 due to Gerd. RNY 2023. I was 238lbs 5'6 at the time. I'm 170 now.
  4. Thank you for sharing! I'm dealing with a stricture now. I've had 3 bsloon procedures but the camera still won't go all the way through. My surgeon described it as a funnel where he has been able to open some at the top but not go through. I've been trying to transition from a feeding tube to eating but can't keep water or food down and everything makes me nauseous. This is my story so far: I had surgery 6/13/24 for revision to RNY. Well, the liver prep diet is finished. Clear liquids tomorrow and surgery Monday morning. I made it this far. It wasn't real fun, but not the most terrible thing in the world. Good luck to everyone with surgery later this month!

Is it easier to drink than normal water? Honestly unless it has a powder mix in it, I’m not drinking it.

    I'm hungry ALL THE TIME

I believe one hungry person was @lizonaplane . They worked with their team and I believe metforman was one of the solutions. After the second year my doctor suggested Wegovy, but I would like to see more studies. Two people I work with got stomach paralysis from it… Liz do you have any ideas?
  10. Also, adding grated or pureed veg to sauces or soups. For example, you can add grated carrots and zucchini to marinara and it pretty much disappears.

Day 5 of pre-op diet and...

Oh my gosh, you're almost there! Just over a week to go! Are you allowed tomato or butternut squash soup? I found these blended with unflavored protein were so much better than the powdered "soups."

Revision went very well. Pouch is now 8 cm. Opening was 54 mm. Now 8 mm.

You are doing great! PCOS or menopause or something did slow things down for me, but the surgery does work. 2+ years out and I’m still tinkering with how carbs and preservatives trigger inflammation in me. I still track when inflammation strikes and you will find your ebbs and flows too. I don’t know if you tried WW or any other plan? I remember the normal loss of 1/2lb a week. Just keep thinking of how this loss compares. WLS does work. Body measurements helped me through the many stalls, speaking of which, you’re probably heading into or out of your “3 week stall.” It’s temporary, you will get to where you hope to go. Here’s to good health!
  14. Vitamin and Mineral Absorption: Unlike SADI-S, gastric bypass allows for full absorption of fat, protein, and carbohydrates.

  16. The SADI procedure is much more drastic than the the RNY. I would imagine that a lot of people experience these types of difficulties after the procedure. You need to keep on top of your vitamins because it's an extremely malabsorptive procedure.

    ways to boost confidence

This is my own perspective (male). You need to love yourself for who you are and come to terms with things. There are some things you can't change and other things that you may be able to, for example with cosmetic surgery. But you have to ask yourself what is bothering you and is it actually worth doing something really drastic about it. A lot of it in my opinion is about finding peace within your own mind and thinking about those who are a lot less fortunate than yourself.
  18. I use a blender (nutri ninja type) and make smoothies. For example, one avocado, one banana and a handful of spinach with semi skimmed milk - then blend it. It'll make your vegetable intake a lot easier.

    I'm liking the Protien2o water.
  20. You didn't explain your reasoning for choosing the gastric bypass.

Me, too. See you on the other side! Start my two days of clear liquids tomorrow and my control freak side is really coming out. I hate not knowing what is going to happen, so I overthink and overplan. I tasted the Ensure Pre-surgery drink, and boy, is that not my favorite thing. Sooo sweet and fake strawberry-y. I am just planning to get it as cold as possible and chugging it.

    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

I just took one today @LisaCaryl in leggings with my shirt tied up at my wait so I could see lol. We’ll see if I have the guts to post it when I take one next month. 😝 😂

    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

@NickelChip I agree! You look great. WTG! And my weight loss graph looks very similar to yours over the last month also except I stalled a little earlier than your recent one and am now back losing again after a little more than 2 weeks. Just keep on keeping on, you’ll get over the hump. 😉

    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

I've been impatient because I lost 79 lbs. leading up to my surgery day. About 39 lbs. From surgery to today. In nearly the same time frame. I was expecting more weight loss after surgery. It's moving in a positive direction, as long as it keeps doing that surely good things to come. 😃

Thanks for the suggestions. Them calcium chocolates are a great idea. Are the protein packets similar to like crystal light or propel packets where you just mix with a bottle or water?

    Needing some encouragement

People who lose 30 lbs the first month, unless they're the size of the folks on "My 600 lb Life", are outliers. Yes, you'll find a few, but most of us "normal" WLS patients lose somewhere in the 15-25 lb range the first month. On top of that, your surgery day weight is a little lower than a lot ours was. I think you're doing fine. I lost 16 lbs the first month, and I weighed 100 lbs more than you do.

Okay, so I would not say these taste good (like at all) but the protein shots with the 30g protein in 3oz size are convenient. The mango, in my opinion, is marginally better than lemonade. Not good, just...better. But the bottles are very small, so you can pop them in a bag and not have to worry about mixing powders on the go. I always put a few in my bag if I'm going to be away from the house for the day or overnight. Also, I see they sell Procare dark chocolate calcium bars. These are legit tasty and a great way to get your calcium while also getting "dessert." I have one almost every night. I also recommend the Syntrax Nectar variety bag, one packet eack of 15 protein shake flavors. Again, for that on the go convenience.
