My pre-op diet is also high Protein & <20 carbs a day, but no restrictions in portion size. I started it 3 days early, just in case I missed the mark on carbs at first, but I didn't have a problem. I have been on it for 8 days & lost 18.5 lbs (!!!). I almost fell off the scale...didn't even know that was possible. I made my hubs get on to make sure it wasn't broken. 320 to 301.5 in 8 days...complete shocker, and I still have a 9 days to go.

No, I'm not working out. We just started a once a week yoga lesson which I will have to skip for a few weeks post op. However, when I went to class yesterday, it felt like I wasn't limping as much as I usually do & I didn't have as much pain. My ortho doc said that for every 10 lbs of weight off, it's 40 lbs of pressure off my knees. So I've just taken almost 80 lbs of pressure off! I'm hopeful that I will be able to start working out soon, at least a little. :)

Awesome job! Lol. I think I'd have done the same thing. Have someone else check. Or readjust my glasses! Lol.

Hi Everyone! Eagerly awaiting my 06/20/13 surgery date. I am stocking up on the things I can have in the first couple of weeks. Isopure' date=' chicken broth, Powerade Zero for the first couple days. Also getting baby food (apple sauce), pudding, yogurt, cottage cheese. I plan to make some chicken Vegetable Soup next weekend. I will puree it and freeze it in small portions.

I hear that popcicles are great in the first couple weeks. I do not do Nurtrasweet (aspartame), so I will be looking for one with Splenda (sucalose).

Anyone have any suggestions of thing to stock up on?[/quote']

I got yogurt, broth, cottage cheese, sf Popsicles, Jello ready made and box mix, crystal light. For pureeing I purchased some soft canned veggies like carrots and green Beans, no fat refried Beans, no fat gravy to make food slippery and tasty.

I guess you are meaning hot tea? I have done tea parties for kids since I work at a victorian house museum. Our HEB stores have a great strawberry tea that kids love. They just stir in the sugar.

I am not sure if you want black or herbal, bit you can get various flavors in both. It is important to note that buying cheap tea is a gamble. Stick with brands you know like Lipton, Bigalow, or Twinnings. Barnes and noble cafes and some grocers carry Republic of tea wh ich is great also.

I recommend you start with something that has fruit in it. Blackberry Sage by rep of Tea is a great one. More fruity than herby. Ginger peach as well. They are also black teas, not herbal. If its caffiene you want, get black tea based.

I have a huge assortment of teas at home. If you like I will be happy to send you a sample pack. Just let me know what you like! :) PM me so we can hash things out.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
