Lying about Weight Loss Surgery !

Recommended Posts

I never understand why people lie about the surgery.. I am flat out honest when people ask me how I lost weight , I don't sugar coat anything . If they don't like it that's there problem not mine. One of my best friends has lost over 100 pounds with the surgery it's been a couple years and she still continues to lie to people ! I just don't get it . I'm proud of my new sleeve and tell everyone that asks . I think it's more of a burden on someone's life to constantly be worrying and trying to cover up how they really lost the weight . Seems like it would just be easier to tell the truth.

I admire you for being able to tell the truth. I have not had the courage to tell anyone except a few people. In all honesty, I am ashamed that I had to resort to surgery to beat obesity. It is something I am working to overcome. Don't be too harsh on those of us who have chosen to keep it a secret. It really isn't anyone else's business, and WLS is a very personal decision. I tell people I am eating a lot of Protein and exercising. That's not a lie, unless you consider it a lie by omission.

Everyone has their own feeling and strong opinions about who needs to know what about themselves. I didn't tell and don't plan on disclosing my personal issues with others. Just like I didn't tell others (even though very proud of him), I don't go around telling others about my husband vasectomy. Nor do I tell others about my surgery for a prolasped uterus due to (proudly), having 3 ten pound babies. I also didn't tell others about a wart I had removed from my butt when I was in jr high.. Oh and I don't tell people my front tooth is fake, due to a friend pushing my face into a Water fountain when I was in fourth grade. I'm not ashamed of anything I do or have. I just think its no ones business or for the fact... others probably don't give a $ H I T anyway!

Lol, no ma'am. I would also find it hard for people to believe that I lost 30lbs in one month in my own. Also how little I can eat.. Like you, I find it easier to just tell the truth because the unwanted stress of constantly lying is not what I want. 68% of Americans are obese or overweight so more then likely who I tell is a chunky monkey too.. Ha ha :)

I tell everyone except for my nursing instructors because they won't let me do my clinicals if they find out until approved by the doc. I can't wait that long!!

You sound like my mom. i was the only one that was 8lbs, My brothers were 10.. I could never imagine pushing that out of my vagina. Your uterus is like Hercules!

I don't tell because I don't feel it's any of their business to know anything about my personal life. I think most people around me only want to know things about "how you're feeling" or "what the kids are up to" just to have something to talk about or gossip about later.

However, if I hear someone talking about getting WLS and I think my experience will help them, privately, I pull them aside and let them know I've had it and that they can ask me anything that will help them decide if it's right for them.

I don't keep mine a secret, but I figure not everyone is fortunate enough to not have jerks in their life that are going to bring them down or act miserable towards them over it.

It's sad, though, that WLS is still considered "taboo."

Half the time when people lie about it , no one. Believes them anyway! So it kind of makes for more gossip and that's what they were trying to avoid in the first place. I dont think there is a diet out there that you can lose 30 pounds in one month .

We must work this daily to correlate our mine & body connection !!!! Proud of you !!! There's so much research that shows this sleeve is a healthy alternative !!! Let's get the word out there !!!!

Sure there is, you're on it. The sleeve isn't a weight loss diet. It's the cutting back on calories that causes the weight loss. If I could live on 600 calories a day, and not suffer the hunger pangs and mental cravings, I would have. And I probably could have lost 30 pounds the 1st month. It just wasn't a life style I could live with long term.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
