You're eating/drinking too much. You want to eat/drink until you are satisfied but not until you hurt. Try stopping a few bites/sips before you get to that feeling. You can always go back for more if you're truly hungry later, but that pain from being overly full lasts forever, it seems. This is one of the toughest issues I faced, being able to stop before I hurt.

Pammie...if Lissa's suggestion doesn't help it could be an esophageal structure. Have you tried some omeprazole? If you aren't doing pills yet it comes in a capsule that you can open and sprinkle on some applesauce. If omeprazole doesn't help I'd call your doc.

How far out are you, Pammie? Did you have a hiatal hernia repair?

Slowing down, eating less and smaller bites is always good advice, BTW.

Ah, you're a freshie! Yes, this is very normal. One week out your stomach is still quite swollen. Even swallowing saliva seems like an effort. Just keep trying to get your liquids in. This will pass soon.

I had the same feeling for about a week and a half after surgery. It would tighten up and hurt even when I wasn't drinking anything! It's almost completely gone and I'm a little over 2 weeks out! Just hang in there, it'll get better :)

At one week out, I was still having stomach and esophageal spasms. That is what your pain sounds like. It got less and less frequent as time went on but at first, I didn't even have to eat or drink anything. It was just spontaneous. I only get those feelings now if I eat that one bite too many.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
