I had my first consult with Dr. Hart at Emory Johns Creek a few days ago. I decided to give the Bararatic Advantage shake a try. I mixed chocolate powder with 1 cup milk a tablespoon of Peanut Butter and some ice and somehow choked almost all down. All I can think is- I am not sure that surgery is worth having to drink those things forever. I was so encouraged after I left his office but now I am not so sure I can really do this.

Second thoughts?

you wont have to drink them forever. Each dr is different but eventually you will be able to eat enough protien that you wont need the shakes. Also there are so many different protien companies and different flavors, you just have to try them until you find the "right" one for your palate. I am 2 months post op and loving it! I dont mind my shakes anymore. I actually look forward to what new concoction i can come up with. Some taste great, some not so much! good luck!

My doctor also recommended Bariatric Advantage, but I thought they were vile. I ended up using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate Splendor with skim milk plus in the blender with ice. They are really good! Give them a try. GNC whey Protein isn't bad either.

Good luck you can do this!

You don't have to drink it forever and there are lots of better tasting protiens out there, but, your point is a great question... is this worth all the changes needed for success?

That is such a personal question, and i think it is wise to think about it a bit before committing to surgery because there are alot of things those first few months especially that kinda suck.

All I can say is that my happy-o-meter has gone off the scale. Life is really good at half my former size. My only regret... is why couldn't I have been sleeved back in 2001 back when I had the crapband installed??? I am so happy with my sleeve, I feel like it saved my life. :)

Find a Protein mix that you like and has what your dr recommends. You can flavor them. Google Protein Drink recipes.

The surgery is SO worth it!! You just have to get over this stepping stone.

This is just temporary. There are lots of different Bariatrix Advantage products available online. Like everything else, some are good and some are awful. Give it a chance.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
