"You're so hungry" how far along are u .. I didn't know we would feel "so hungry" ahh

I think that's what a lot if people think. That there is no hunger anymore after the sleeve. I am four months out and, well, I get hungry! I mean lets look at "hunger"

first off, before we had surgery where we

"Hungry" every time we ate? No..

So head hunger is still an issue for a lot of people. It wasn't just to get full, that we ate. It was the taste, texture, enjoyment, etc of eating.

So after we are sleeved in the beginning we are really healing and going through trauma the first month. After that you eat very little because your stomach is still really swollen (and some of us are just freaked out).

Fast forward to 6 or 7 months you are going to be able to eat a lot more! Have you dealt with you head hunger? Have you revamped your relationship with food? These's are the important things the hard things! I know because I deal with them daily still...

You can't go into this and think "well I thought you weren't supposed to be hungry anymore"

It doesn't work that way, you will always NEED food. And food will taste good again.

The one thing I learned is this sleeve is not going to do the hard mental work for me. And it also won't jump out of my stomach and slap that ice cream cone out of my hand ( damn ) .

You/me, we have to work and work hard against what I feel, is really an addiction.

Is it a great opportunity, the sleeve? YES

Is it a miracle cure? NO

Laura

I am a super organised person so that's not a problem. I love healthy foods but when I feel really hungry I eat the bad carbs as that's what I feel will only fill me up (touch the sides lol) . I'm lookin forward to knowing that I can have a piece of fruit and it will be satisfying .. Instead of a whole bag of chips lol

Oh, the chips thing! I remember when I first started BTB had a thread about things like chips in our sleeve (pictures and everything) Do you remember that thread fiddleman? You can eat a whole lot of those no problem! They go down quite easy as a matter of fact... Feel way better on my sleeve than say a piece of chicken!

But I still have to choose not to eat to many.

It's funny because eating things like chips and crap got me here! Not a lousy chicken breast!

:P

Hmmm I was thinking of getting help after - dietitian or physiologist? I don't think I have huge emotional eating problems .. I just love food - happy or sad I eat too much .. I got really mad when I went to a dr who was covering for my dr while away. He said I had a food addiction - I was like whatever - u can't be addicted to food - you need food - that's like saying you're addicted to air or breathing! Lol ... Now I get it

How true, and yes, I remember the post from BTB. I was never a corn nuts person, but post sleeve I am finding I like them a little too much. Maybe it is the crunch or the salt? Do not know. I ate some yesterday for the first time post sleeve and kept eating them without measuring them out. It will be on my Banned food list because they are definitely slider food and one can eat slot of them without feeling full. I have not gotten into chips post sleeve because of all the posts from other members about how much of a slider they are.

popcorn yummy but a slider! No go for me..

And yes talking to someone and even hashing it out here helps! I talk to a Therapist about it.

I think that if you are reading it here now too,it will better prepare you to know these things going in so you can see them clearly and deal with them more effectively :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
