I have UHC.... 6 months medically supervised diet is required. They only pay for 5 with a nutritionist. I am still trying to find out if they will pay for a TT after its over.

I have uhc and was so stressed about them approving before six months but they did. I did meet the qualifications for the bmi and two co-morbidities. It took exactly two weeks to come back with an approval and I am so relieved now I think the nervousness is beginning to settle in. My advice. Be patient but stay on time of your requirements and if you are working with a CEnter of Excellence you should be good otherwise. Best of luck. I've been stalking this forum for months and finally ready to share

I have united healthcare. It only required me to have a BMI of 40 or more (no co morbidity required). See the nutritionist & psychologist twice. No six month diet, no 5 year weight history. Once all paperwork was submitted, it look 10 days for a response. It was pretty easy & fast. It took about 6-8 weeks from start to surgery date.

I have united healthcare oxford *** liberty plan. Bmi 40. No pre existing issues. I was approved within 25 hours of all my testing submitted

Thank you Royal. Keep you posted most likely would be on June they had avail on May 13 but I'm going to be on a wedding & gave all May busy. If I waited so long a couple of weeks would be fine.

When you call UHC, say "prior authroization" at the beginning of the phone call and they will route you to the people who will know. If they're still not able to tell you anything, ask for a nurse coordinator.

Got approved today yesss so happy & nervous

Congrats!!!!! I know the feeling well! I bounce between feeling nervous and anxious. Lol. I was approved the same day my paperwork was submitted--March 29th. Just got my surgery date scheduled yesterday! Reality is creeping up on me! ;) Good luck!
