Recommended Posts

Here we are coming to the end of January!!! It feels like yesterday that I was banded! I can't believe it went by so fast!

Congrats to all that are entering Bandland in the next couple of days!

Let us know how you are all doing!

We get to travel down this road together!

I am also so happy to have a group of such great people!

We always stay positive and just try to support and motivate each other. Thanks for making it an enjoyable and safe place for us all!!!!

...does everyone have to stay overnight in the hospital? I am planning on going right home after surgery..but it seems like alot of you stayed the night...I dont want to, I want to be in my own bed (I washed all my bedding and did all my laundry!) Im soooo ready!!

Tracy, I went home the same day as surgery and slept in my own bed. I had to have some help getting in and out of bed for about 24 hours. Will keep you in my prayers.

I'm a January bandster (1/24). I did it as soon after the holidays as I could!

Congratulations and welcome to January bandsters. How are you doing?

I need some help i just tried to eat my dinner and it felt like it got stuck in my chest i almost felt like i couldnt breath then it came up is this what BPing is

Thats EXACTLY what it sounds like to me. Be very careful. Take smaller bites, and chew even more. Wait a little longer between bites. Some even have to go on liquids for 24 hours after a PB because it can irritate the band/stomach.

BabyGotBack,

How long was your stomach sore for? Today is day 5 for me and I was just wondering. I am still getting shoulder pain every now again. I am returning to work tomorrow. I will try and make it all day but I sit for 12 hours and was thinking i may need to lay down a little.

I had my surgery 1/18.....was tender for about 4 or 5 days. Today, 9 days out, was the first day I forgot all about the surgery! Don't get me wrong, I've been almost pain free, just a little pulling and tenderness so I can't complain.

Well, tomorrow is all Clear Liquids, for one day prior to surgery. Tonight my father is cooking for me; lobster tail and filet mignon from Omaha Steaks. Mom opened a bottle of Korbel to reflect my 'Going, Going, Gone' attitude with the weight.

I know compared to many of you who have had a long pre op diet; this seems like non-sense. But regardless, tomorrow is going to be difficult for me. No solids, and the day before surgery. Yikes. Nerves are creeping in for sure. I definately couldn't be any more ready than I am now. I am just wanting to be healthy. I've packed my overnight back for the hospital, got my Rx's together and I think that's it. I'll be sure to check in tomorrow. Alot 'busy' stuff planned to keep me going and the mind occupied. I'm hoping I sleep LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the same pre-op diet my dr. gave.....just drink Water every time you would of reached for something to eat. I thought it would kill me but it wasn't that bad!

*******UPDATE***************

I have went back to the very 1st page and under my post I have added the new January Bandster list. I will try and keep it updated. I emailed Angy (Jen) to update it, but I haven't seen her around. I hope she is doing okay. I noticed she hasn't been online since 1/17. I'm a little worried about her.

Anyhow, to all new bandsters, please review my list on the FIRST page and see if I missed anyone.

Speaking of overall heating pads.... We got a heated mattress pad for Christmas. It is the best thing every! It's really helped my back at night, and it makes the covers nice and cozy to crawl into at night. I highly recommend it!

My sister in law got one too and she has just about talked me into getting one. I have been looking at them, and trying to find a good price.

Oh man, I should not be posting at 4am. I hate when I leave typos like that!! I only noticed it because Tulip quoted me. LOL. Thanks Tulip!

Hey everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, well I got banded on the 26th and I feel a lot better than I did a few days ago. The only thing is the gas!!!! But I think that is slowing down. I already feel restriction. I only "eat" a 1/4 cup at a time and it fills me up I'm also drinking a lot of Water, crystal light and flat diet sprite. I only take tylenol with codeine at night and I can finally sleep on my side. The only problem I had yesterday was showering and washing my hair, but I got to do it again tonight so hopefully it will be better. I can't wait to see how much weight I lost, I'm glad everyone is doing okay.

What is the deal with the gas? Will it ever end completely? I am 17 days out and I still struggle with it. Seems I am always burping and have alot of bubbling going on? Is everyone doing the same?

I hear ya with the gas, that was more painful than anything! And what is with the shoulder pains? I just called my dr. and the office said to take the chewable gas x and pepcid at night and it should help. Other than that, just walk it off, that's what I do, I think I wore out some carpets in my house walking off the gas.

I wish I was in your boat...seriously! I am 11 days post-op and I cant get rid of my gas situation, it all stays inside. No matter how much my tummy hurts or rumbles, it refuses to leave. At least you can expel yours! I am hoping to see an end to it real soon, so if you find something that works, PLEASE let me know! I have tried Gas X, I have tried Senokot, Durcolax...and no relief. The gas has even pushed my port out to where you can visibly see it...I even went to the Doctor for an x-ray. The pain in my left side and shoulder is really starting to grate on my nerves!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
