Indiana Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Anyone use Evanson in indy? I am private pay and near South Bend. St. Vincent in Carmel is $26,000. $20,000 of that is for the hospital and $6,000 for surgeon. Any other fantastic docs around for less$ Isn't there one in Merrillville?

Anyone getting a sleeve anywhere soon? Im shooting for November. Need a buddy

Hi, I went for a consult w/ St. Vincent in Carmel as well. And they told me about the same. $24,000. Thats when I started doing more research and decided to go to Tijuana, Mexico. Its $6500 where I am going. There are places that are cheaper, but I feel I have a good surgeon (who lives in states) and a good hospital. I just couldnt afford self pay here. I am having my surgery 2 weeks from today.

Bumping this because it looks like I'll be getting sleeved in 2017! I see just about everyone on this thread has gone through St Vincent Carmel or Mexico? My top 3 choices are Community North, Johnson Memorial and Columbus Regional. I called and spoke with someone at the St Vincent program and just didn't get the feeling it'd be a good fit communication wise.

What insurance did everyone use? I found out on Friday I am preliminarily approved for Hip Plus, which is a huge blessing since employer sponsored insurance specifically does not cover bariatrics or medical weight loss.

Hi I'm Anderson. Just had the sleeve done on Dec. 1st. I'm on the mend now. I really hope it was the right choice. Having trouble with abdominal spasms. Started a week ago.

Is it when eating or drinking? On the FB groups they say it's common to have some cramping/tightening if eating too fast, or too dense of a food for what stage you're on. Also common if trying to drink things that are too hot or cold. But call your surgeon just to be on the safe side.

Anyone out there who had this problem?

Procedure was done on the 23rd. I have some spasms yet, but typically when I try to eat too fast.

I got my done in Seymour Indiana, im 4 months post op. Dr Cooper has done my family, friends, church people, every one is doing great. His staff is always on call. Don't go to Mexico, i know some people that have died. Please please do research.

I had the exact opposite experience with Dr Cooper's staff. His 'main nurse' is rude and condescending. They openly admit to having printed copies of posts in FB groups even posts by people who are not their patients. That's at the very least unethical. I'm glad you are happy with your experience but in no way would I recommend Dr Cooper or his staff.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
