FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

I got sleeved in Monday 2/25/13. I am doing pretty good. Trying to get a my Protein in and Water. Today I decided to have some Gatorade just to be safe with hydration. I keep getting my water in too but I am afraid to over eat. I haven't felt full yet but I take small sips of the Protein Shake. I am just now hungry but I know I need to eat. Was anyone else like this? I am going to try and take a cat nap then try some Unjury ckn Soup. I haven't felt nausea since being home just once in the hospital when I took 2 sips of the protein shake. Then I got the nausea shot and wallah no more nausea.

"Need to eat" is what they call head-hunger. How could you possibly be full? (Compared to what you are used to eating). I am only 3 days ahead of you. I was sleeved on 2/22. If you make sure to drink Water throughout the day, and take in Protein Shakes, Jello and non-fat yogurt you should feel satiated. A 15 calories sugar free popsicle is pretty satisfying too. When I hear my stomach growl, I'll eat one of the foods I already mentioned and the pangs go away.

Best of luck to you.

JLB15-- I'm glad you are doing well after three days. I just bought Protein Powder for my Water when I'm in the hospital. You may want to try finding some and adding it to your water. I wish you continued healing!

I ate one egg with one tsp of feta cheese. Took me about twenty mins. I felt full but not uncomfortable. As my Nut suggests' date=' I ate with a baby spoon and that really helped to pace me. Hope you get an egg tomorrow![/quote']

1 more week til I get to eat one...can't wait.

I was sleeved o n Feb. 25th. I got to go home last night. I don't feel as if I was ready to go home. I'm still in a lot of pain. I have been walking and taking gas X but the gas pain will not away. I'm unable to release gas. I can't even sip Water without feeling pain and discomfort. I'm afraid of not getting my fluids. Is this normal?

It was for me! I was miserable. I took gas x with no relief. Walking and drinking as much as you can helps. I used a heating pad on my stomach 24/7. And took stool softner and benefiber type meds. And I think it was 3-4 days after I got home and all let loose but man did it finally feel good. I still has gas pain after that too but it was more managable. So all I can say is keep pushing through it will get better.

So tomorrow I am FINALLY able to start mushy foods! Sooo excited! I've been on nothing but liquids for four weeks now and I am going insane!!!!! I'm going to try an start with an egg white omelette as I've been craving one for weeks(so sad that THIS is exciting to me now). I was wondering if anyone has any other good ideas for mushy foods. I'm a really super picky eater so any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Ok. In my own room and already feeling pretty Dang good!

Surgery was a like 10am, was only in 30-40 minutes. I had some lain when I woke up, but they hit me with Dilaudid and I have no pain at all now....other than GAS! OMG!

I've never wished for a 'toot' as much as I have these last few hours!!!! I'm walking two laps around the entire floor I'm on every hour...still nothing. They just gave me a Gas-X melt strip...we'll see if that helps.

What worked for you????

I developed an adversion to eggs since I had to puree everything.

I made a packet of tuna fish, plain greek yogurt, and hot pickles and blended it and then I froze them in ice cube tray and they are ready to eat sizes.

Also I have done Soups. Those work the same way. Also I have eaten a lotnof yogurt, cottage cheese and used to eggs lol

Good luck

My ninja! It was gross looking! I scrambled them first then blended them and put ketchup on them. Just the texture grossed me out. So then today I tried egg whites and ate them as normal..... still NASTY. I am done with eggs ha

Hello! Time for me to join this thread. Drinking some Premier Protein shake right now, 4oz. So far today, I've eaten:

4oz Protein Shake

2oz cream of chicken Soup

2oz SF pudding

4oz Protein shake

Water

Haven't felt hungry yet. My husband is eating buffalo chicken bites and it smells good, and I'd love to have some, but it's not making me actually hungry at all!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
