FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was sleeved on Monday 18th Feb, and despite my extreme terror that I'd leave the hospital with nothing more than a single hole in my gut with a steri strip over it (my surgeon was seriously doing my head in big time), the surgery went off without a hitch and I'm now back home and doing relatively well. No trouble getting my fluids in, but getting down the Protein Drinks and Soup broth is proving to be only slightly more difficult - I simply do NOT want it. It does't help that I'm so sick of sweet stuff I could barf - and naturally the Protein drinks are all sweet. i have noticed that warm liquids go down 'better' than cold ones; i don't notice that split second ache that I get when i swallow cold stuff. It's not really pain per se, it's just a slight ache, and it only lasts long enough to notice and then its gone.

I have a follow up with my surgeon this Monday coming. I weighed this morning and am actually showing a 3kg gain, but I know it's all the fluids they pumped into me in hospital. I'm not going to worry about it at this stage.

no pain, but I am making sure I maintain my desolvable pandaol doses (how awful is that stuff, anyway?? blegh). still, i was expecting much more discomfort. my incissions are only a little tender, the worst being the one my drain tube was in. since it was pulled until yesterday arvo, it's the least healed of them, so that makes sense to me.

I hate when I piss my sleeve off. I've noticed she is very temperamental about certain things. I ordered the raspberry calcium chews today. I hope they are worth it. My boss loves them. Hopefully my sassy frass sleeve will tolerate them.

I love them too!!! They are the little squares? By Bariatric Advantage? I got raspberry and caramel! Love caramel...makes me feel like I'm getting a candy treat (: those have never bothered me at all. The chocolate and citrus ones frim them are good too. They are on the expensive side but going to be so worth it for me lol

Did you see they have a pre order for a higher dose of caramel? I wanted to order but I wasn't sure if those were good. I will have to try them now tht you said they were good.

im scheduled for the 26th. Im getting nervous, but mostly im worried about not being able to drink very much. Im a gulper. I love to guzzle down a huge glass of ice water!!!! ugggg. is it worth it?

I still gulp and have had no bad things. It just happens, not necessarily intentional. I don't get any gas or burping from it, any extra than pre surgery that is. I just can't drink as much as I used to at a time.

What is everyone's post op diet right after the hospital? I had my surgery on Monday, and had to be on Clear Liquids (broth, Jello, water) until Friday morning. I start on full liquids (protein drinks, puddings, yogurt) today (Friday). I'm so ready to have a little substance. Glad to be done with clear liquids. My pre op diet was one week long. I have lost 12 lbs with the pre op diet and being 4 days post op. I didn't weigh myself right after the hospital, so I'm not sure how much I gained from iv fluids. I'm still sore, but feeling pretty good.

What adversions are you dealing with?

eggs is one...1st time I pureed them after scrambling them. Then had a Breakfast bowls with eggs and sausage etc. And since then.... thought of eggs makes me want to puke.

Hamburger- made meatloaf and pureed that.... now thought and smell of meatloaf make me want to vomit.

Those are the ones I can think of off hand.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
