Ok... I have tried pureed/ softfoods....and it gets stuck. I chew 20 plus times...its not making a difference. The pressure in my chest causes me to vomit. Everything I eat isn't appetizing and causes discomfort. I am just so tired and frustrated...I have no interest in eating. I don't want to drink Protein Shakes and Soup broth forever. I used to love food....now I don't want to see it. Nxt Tuesday ill be 4 weeks out . I sure hope it gets better. ...needless to say after losing 30 lbs post surgery. ..I hit a stall to top it off.

I was having that issue and turns out I developed GERD. Try over the counter omeprazole. It worked for me and I finally felt better.

Your still healing from having 85% of your stomach cut off... This is not permanent but it does take a lil while to heal. Just be kind to your body while it recovers. It's not forever, promise.

This doesn't seem normal for being out 4 weeks. Have you spoke to your doctor? If you haven't I would definitely call tomorrow.

Some people do better than others, but 4 weeks is still very very early. Keep taking your PPI because we need that for the first 6 months even if we never have symptoms.

I remembered my doctor told me about a Sleeve "tube" Stenosis. It is a tightening of a portion of the tube. The symptoms are vomiting after eating, having a sticking sensation when eating, inability to tolerate foods once eaten, pain when eating solid food. It usually manifests itself at four weeks after surgery. It can be treated as an outpatient procedure. The last thing my info mentions is to not let the problem to continue several days before calling. If this just started and hasn't been an issue all along maybe this is the issue.

I have been having the same problem. I stopped eating and went back to Protein Shakes :/ I got so upset I didn't drink anything for 2days. But I kicked myself in the ass and im trying to get back on track. I have to eat when it's quiet so I can pay attention to my stomach. Its hard and time consuming but don't give up! Keep trying slowly.. everyday is a new day! Best of luck

The first time I had reflux, I thought I was having a heart attack because the pressure and squeezing was so intense- I spent the night in intensive care and left with a perfect heart, a prescription for Protonix, and a bill I am still paying off..

My reflux has definitely gotten worse since surgery- I'm almost 8 months out now, but it was expected to do so. I still have the same amount of acid, but an 80% smaller stomach to hold it. I was switched to omperazole and that keeps it in check for the most part. I had a family member die from esophogeal cancer caused by reflux which then spread to her lungs and all over, so I'm pretty careful and will get scoped regularly to be safe. If you have refulx, I would advise everyone to do the same.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
