Fibro and/or arthritis...keep you from exercising?

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious if anyone with fibromyalgia and/or arthritis are doing for exercise?? I have fibro, osteoarthritis, planar fasiitis, and herniated discs surrounding a 2 level cervical fusion. I just begun riding a bike since I'm supposed to be off my feet as much as possible due to the planar fasiitis, but my back and neck are screaming. It won't keep me from continuing because I'm just not that type of person I'll push through the pain. I feel like sometimes these diagnoses are an excuse not to exercise and sometimes overdue it because of that. Will the pain go away the more I exercise? I rarely take my pain meds (so rare the last time I filled them was in 2011 and they expired in sept of 2012) but last night I took one hoping I'd feel better today. Not so much! What's ya'lls experience?

I do have fibro and arthritis in my neck and back. I do exercise but I do try to listen to my body. I play basketball, do the treadmill and eliptical and do weights. I don't do it as often as I would like. I don't take any kind of meds except thyroid. Just listen to your body. The more weight you loose the better you should feel. Google taping for plantar facitis. It completely cured it for me. Good luck!

I was taped for a week it didn't work so now I've been on Celebrex for a month and its helped a little. I have another month I have to take of it. I would think that would help my back and neck too. I think I just need to get used to exercising again.

It is definitely a lifestyle adjustment. Ive been active most of my life and still have to adjust to excercising regularly now. I taped for about a month before I saw a big difference. Good luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
