Where are my sleeve buddies? Dr. Perez in Cancun on March 8th

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am having surgery with Dr. Perez in Cancun on March 8th. I am so very excited and nervous, and I'd love to find someone else who will be going at the same time so we can be excited and nervous together! Any takers? :)

Congratulations! I see you're from Florida too - I'm in Kissimmee! Will you be doing any sort of pre-op diet? If so, we can support each other throughout...not sure about you, but goodness knows I'll be needing it. :)

Yes, I have to do a pre-op diet too! if everything turns out as planned I will fly to Mexico on March 8th with my sister. Will you be traveling alone?

It's great that you have someone to travel with! My mom will be joining me, and we will fly out on March 7th. I am still waiting on final approval of my time off from work, but that should be coming any time now...at least, it better be - I'm getting impatient!

Do you know which airline you'll be using? The only decent airline I know of that offers nonstop flights out of Orlando is JetBlue. I'm hoping they still have some availability in the coming days, because flights were looking pretty full when I checked yesterday! I guess it IS right around Spring Break time...oh joy. :)

Glad to hear your mom will be going with you. I was terrified of traveling alone so my dear sis agreed to travel with me. Since hubby will be staying with the kids. I am also waiting for the final approval from work. I plan on using American Airlines they have a direct flight from Miami. If I use JetBlue then I have to travel from the Fort Lauderdale Airport which is about 45 min drive without traffic. Although JetBlue supposed to be cheaper the quotes have been pretty much the same. So not worth the extra hassle of driving!

I just got my time off approval from work this morning! We are headed to the courthouse tomorrow afternoon to apply for expedited passports...it's all starting to feel so much more real now. Only six more weeks until our lives change for the better...and only three more until I start my pre-op diet! Gulp. I hope things are coming along as planned for you!

Hooray for you! :D I just sent my passport out today also with an expedited service. Tomorrow I will speak with boss about my vacation time. I want to purchase my flight tickets, but I cant until I get the vacation approved. So frustrating!!!

I know what you mean about the frustration...I was going absolutely crazy waiting on a response from my boss, and she took her sweet time! I bought our plane tickets this afternoon, and wow - what a rush of emotions I felt when I clicked "purchase"! A combination of nerves, excitement, and a whole lot of "holy crap, is this really happening?!" Right now I am pretty much floating. I hope you get your answer soon so you can feel this way too!

What's your name, by the way? I guess I should have asked that before! :)

Yay!!! So excited for you! I sent out my passport paperwork today, and I'm still having such a hard time believing this is all actually happening! I hope you find a decent deal on airfare...JetBlue practically robbed me blind, but hey, nothing's gonna stop me now! :)

I just got back from being sleeved by Dr. Perez on January 25. My husband went with me. Let me assure you that you have nothing to worry about. Everyone is very kind. Mario & Lupita picked me and my husband up at the airport to take us to the hotel. They didn't speak much English but enough. Abraham (the owner of the car company) took us to the hospital. He was very informative and gave Lee (hubby) suggestions on where to eat or get Snacks. My husband, who doesn't like Mexican food, found the food - especially at 100% Natural - to be delicious (sorry, sleevers, that is for your companions). Also, don't be too shy to ask for a pillow for your companion. The "bed" they have has a square cushion that my husband used the first night and his neck killed him. He asked for a pillow, sheet and blanket for the 2nd night - no problems!

All of the surgical staff speaks English. The operating room (to which you walk yourself) is very modern. The entire hospital is clean but very small. I got dizzy walking the hall.;) That was probably the only negative of my entire trip.

Feel free to ask if you have specific questions. I am getting ready to post my experience in full so you can read that too, if you want.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
