I recommend L-Lysine supplement and Ovation cell therapy for hair support. I had REALLY thin hair because I was post-cancer' date=' multiple surgeries, major stress, early onset menopause because of radiation and that was all before I got sleeved. I love the tinted dry Shampoo by Batiste to boost volume and cover bald spots and I try to wash my hair only 2-3 times a week so there's less breakage. My hair has grown out a lot but as I was losing weight I just kept it super short.[/quote']

I have been wondering about Ovation. Worth the cost you think?

Really appreciate the pros weighing this subject. It something we all stress about.

I colored mine 2 weeks after surgery. No problems here. You must color your hair and you MUST wear mascara at all times! Lol.

Do you mean Nioxin shampoo? And I agree, husbands and kids cause gray hair... I have been coloring mine Auburn also for YEARS.

^ it also has a TON to do with the high levels of estrogen. Too much estrogen=nt enough hair. Your fat cells store estrogen and when they're being shed, especially rapidly, your hair will thin. Luckily as far as my hair is concerned, I'm a slow loser and haven't lost any. I also switched to a low/no estrogen birth control pill. There are plenty out there. They're only 98% effective while pills with estrogen are 99% but you should use a barrier method the first 18-24 months anyway to avoid pregnancy while you're in the super fertile zone so 1% shouldn't matter. :)

Which birth control pill did you go on? I would like to discuss switching with my doctor if I'm on one that's high estrogen. I'll do anything to keep my hair!! :)

Wait, am I missing something? Does vsg cause you to get grey hairs regardless of age?? Or are the greys unrelated to the surgery?

I sprouted a few grays my senior semester of college.

Chem major problems lol

I think with coloring hair the thing to avoid is dying it a lighter color. Lifting ot several levels causes stress and damage to hair. Combine that with the stress your body is already going through with the surgery (healing itself and the lack of it's usual food/nutrient intake) you're likely to shed more than the norm if you try to lighten it. I wouldn't recommend exploring the world of blonde if you're a brunette right after surgery.

Also, according to several people who are more than a year out and my dietician, they say the most hairloss is noticed around 6 months postop, not immediately after.

Coloring your hair has no impact on Hair loss. Excess damage might cause breakage.

I was prepared to lose hair. I cut my hair real short and bought bandanas and turbans and a sleep cap. How and why I did not lose any hair, I will never figure out, since I followed my plan like everyone else here does. 80 g Protein 20,000 mg Biotin 80 ounces Water 800-1000 calories. Your guess is as good as mine. I did take the opportunity to embrace the gray and quit coloring my hair every six weeks. One thing I noticed now that I do not put all kinds of processing and products into it, is that my hair is as soft as a baby's.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
