February Sleevers

I'm set up for February 4th. Seems like forever away. People keep telling me, "oh don't worry". It bugs me cause I'm not worried. What seems to keep popping in my head is, am I doing the right thing.

I would like to here what others are thinking, going through.

My Doctors plan is two days preop clear liquid, not 10 like I've been reading on here. Anyone else similar?

Thanks,

Kimo

Must be a Monday thing! I was sleeved on the 18th and I have fluid on my lungs due to the anesthesia. Tonight it feels like someone is stabbing me in the chest on my left side when I breathe, and when I laid down to sleep around 9:00, I felt like I was suffocating. I totally panicked. Waiting to hear back from my surgeon and hoping it's not progressed to a partially collapsed lung!

Did the doc or nurses give you spirometer to do breathing exercises? It's very important to do them about 10 times an hour to keep your lungs from getting groggy after going under. I hated doing them bc I felt like a brick was on my chedt but it really did help.

Best of luck to the remaining Feb sleevers! You're new wonderful life is about to begin! We are all here for you! Xxxoooo

Same here the 15 and is crazy. Walk a lot it helps. Lay on your side and you would start passing gas in a few. It work for me and many others.

Thanks!

Yes. I've been doing them

Anyone sleeved 2-19 still in a lot of pain

That would be me. Not much on gas pains but right side incision burns bad. I have to use a stomach binder and that helps but still feel that horrible burning. When I take off the binder, I almost want to pass out and throw up from the pain.

Susie, I was revisioned band to sleeve on the 14th. I too was in a lot of pain the first 4 days but then it became quite manageable. Walking helps tremendously. Wishing you a speedy recovery. :)

Is the binder something the hospital gave you, or something you chose to use? I know I've needed support for my stomach and I've gotten buy with just a small pillow...are your incisions puffy, red, or discharging at all? If it continues, I would contact your doc!

It will be over and done with before you know it! it was my second surgery, but I still got really scared. I finally started to calm down when they put my IV in, and the bartender gave me my cocktail! Lol. Just know that there will be pain and discomfort afterward due to the gas that they pump you up with, but it does get better each day. Just do the breathing the want you to do, and walk as much as possible. That will help get the gas out! You will be just fine! These folks do it over and over again everyday so you can rest assured they know what their doing.
