What about mini cheeseburgers? Can we eat the bread? Or is bread difficult to chew. I a m still new but haven't had a cheese burger but would love to do a mini burger

You will get a lot of opinions on this, but I am in favor of leaving the bread behind, especially if it's a white flour bun. If you are not very far out, you need that room for Protein, Bread also makes some people feel really bad. White bread balls up and swells in my sleeve. It's nutritionally devoid so I would skip it. Later on down the line, try a toasted (bread is easier to digest when toasted) whole grain variety with a lot of protein in it, but use on one slice. It will be enough. Some just use lettuce wraps. It's up to you what you think is best for your weight loss.

I love burgers. They are a go to for me. I eat just the patty that I make with supper lean ground beef, I add Worcestershire sauce, and spices, and diced mushrooms sometimes a little Dijon mustard. grill to my liking and I top with smashed avocado, salt and pepper.

bread really hurts my tummy! I wrap a hamburger patty in lettuce. Lettuce doesn't bother me.

I too was dying for a burger so I tried Weight Watchers Smart Ones - 2 cheeseburgers in a pckg. Removed bottom bun off one. Ate with a knife and fork to make sure my bites were tiny and almost finished it. I know processed food is bad' date=' but as a once in a while treat for lunch, it did the trick, got my burger craving satisfied too.[/quote']

I totally agree!! These little burgers are great once in a while. A box of 2 makes 2 lunches for me at work.

My husband fixes me a very small one, with 93% lean, and puts a slice of 2% monterey jack/colby cheese on it, about 1 oz. Then I put olive oil mayo and a little ketchup and I'm great with that

Hi everyone! I am 9 months post op and I have only lost 10lbs since October. I have been doing everything (not perfect) but when I slip I catch myself. I am exercising, eating right, and avoiding temptation as much as possible. I have heard that if you do a back to basics week it can help start up your weightloss again. Is this true? Or is anyone else where I am at. I have lost a total of 87lbs since surgery, which I am ecstatic over, but I have another 50 to go feel as if there is something wrong. I'm not sure why I'm not losing anymore! Help!!!!

Talk to you doctor or nut about this as they know your history. I'm only 10 weeks out and still adding foods and experimenting with what I can keep down.

Wow...you folks manage to turn ANY question or conversation into an immature cliquey high school drama' date=' don't you?

Why on earth was there any need to attack someone for volunteering their own experience? It does NOT matter if Dianne38 chooses to eat at McD's once in a while, or enjoy a doughnut. It also doesn't mean she's unhealthy or that she doesn't care about her body. Could she make better choices? Sure. So could almost every American out there, obese or not.

These things are an ingrained part of our culture and if she can use moderation and enjoy them it's her choice. I'd criticize her if she were hopping on here to complain that she's stalled and then shared that she's eating doughnuts and hamburgers. But really? The VERY first response to her was a sarcastic, overly critical snotty one.

No WONDER people don't want to post here. No WONDER people say VST has gotten too negative. And you accuse the lady that was just out-of-the-blue sniped at for sharing her experience of reacting harshly, instead of acknowledging that people here are acting like a bunch of children.

Pathetic. And things I've read about certain people here never having a single positive thing to say seem to ring true - outside of their own little posse of like-minded sharp-tongued people, that is.

Dianne38 has been just as ugly if not worse on this thread...calling people idiots ect. Anger issues perhaps or guilt?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
