I'm still on my liquid phase but I use to eat quinoa frequently. It is DELICIOUS if you cook it right and buy a high quality brand! Don't skimp on the brand of quinoa you choose and rinse it with cold Water first before cooking. Make sure to cook it exactly as the package says or it can get funky!

I used to make a taboulleh salad with it - i would add cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, and a dressing made with olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic. it was awesome!

if you have a Wegmans, they sell it in bulk... but most larger grocery stores also sell it...also at places like Whole Foods and Trader Joes....

My BF is from Peru, so Quinoa has been a staple ingredient for us for years. I make pilaf with it, use it in veggie Soups, as a filler with meat to stuff peppers. It is a complete Protein, very digestible and has a fantastic texture.

Quinoa is great. I've had no problem with it but it still comes 3rd after Protein and vegetables. For that reason I try to make small quantities.

Quinoa is very high in Protein. It's considered a "super food" because of its nutrition density. We eat it a lot (although I'm not ready to advance to it now, we ate it all the time before my revision). My husband is East Indian and we use it with curry instead of rice. Much more nutritious. It does need to be rinsed several times before cooking because the seeds have a soapy-tasting coating that needs to be removed. I use warm Water, but YMMV. Just rinse until it runs clear, about 5 or 6 times. We cook it in the rice cooker--3 parts water to 1 part quinoa, add boullion, whatever seasonings you like. Yummy. :)

I used to eat it all the time before going on the reduction plan for surgery. While purging my cabinets, I had it once while on preop plan and nearly fainted when I put it in MFP. The carbs and calories were not worth the little bit of Protein it had. I think I'll have to wait on it until maintenance. I'm trying to stick to butterthebean's formula... 10:1 Calories:Protein ex..200 calories/20g protein Quinoa at 28:1, for me, just does not "fit" right now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
