When can we eat fruit and salads

Recommended Posts

I eat them now - 2 months out. I concentrate on Protein first when eating a salad leaving not much room for the greens but have a small piece of fruit most days as a snack.< /p>

I mix berries and bananas in my Protein smoothie. I also eat sf fruit bars. I can't wait to eat a big salad! Soon I hope. I'm not even 2 wks in.

I'm 36 days post-op and I had salad for dinner last night, and lunch today. Fruits and veggies were too big a part of my life before to not at least try. My dietician hasn't really restricted me because she knows I'll stop if it doesn't feel good. But, just so you know, my results are pretty atypical. I seem to be able to eat a lot of foods most people can't at this stage, just in very small quantities. So far, the only foods I have trouble with are pork, eggs, and apples. I'm going to try an orange tonight. Wish me luck!

According to my doc & nut we could do fruits at the pureed stage like bananas, pears and peaches,I dont think pureed oranges and grapefruits would be too good eww. Salads and fruits are included by week 7 when we go to regular foods.Ive had salad two nights in a row and so far so good.

I believe my plan allowed those things after week 8...slow and as tolerated

I was sleeved on 12/17, and I can have canned mandarin oranges- would that satisfy your orange craving?

I cannot have salads, raw vegetables, or nuts until mid- February (two months post-surgery)

I'm 3 months post op on Thursday, tonight I had about 2 regular fork-fulls, chopped real tiny of my favorite salad, and so far so good! Praying my tummy doesn't reject it, please, God! I was cleared for all foods but told to avoid breads since Nov. 12th but could not eat raw veggies yet, until today-I hope! I haven't had fruit other than what is in my Greek yogurt. I miss my healthy foods so much. It kind of stinks that a cookie eaten slowly goes down fine, but chicken, fruit and veggies don't. I know, cookies--really!?! I had maybe 1 or 2 a couple of times over the holidays. Homemade only and healthy-ish ones (oatmeal, prune...) I'm back on track, no cookies-I threw them all in the freezer and told family to take a few out when they want but u don't want to see them any more! Too tempting!

I'm 3.5 months out and tried my first orange this week. I cut it in fourths and ate one segment and had to stop. It wasn't going well. My surgeon cleared me for salad and fruit at 12 weeks.

I am 2 months out and have been eating the little Cutie clementine seedless oranges. After I peel the orange, I carefully peel away the white membrane and just eat the pulp of each section. This is good because it forces me to eat it slowly. I have not had any problems.

That may have been my problem. I was attempting to eat some of the white roughage too and my sleeve was NOT happy with that fiberous stuff.

Don't worry - it does get better day by day. Update on raw veggies: my tiny serving of salad stayed down! Victory! So, for me, 3 months post-op and I can eat salad, a very little might I add, but it was so crisp and cold and refreshing! (Nothing like Protein Shakes to make you appreciate salads - I used to hate that I had to - or should - eat a salad every day when I was trying to lose weight - now I crave and dream about them! Being sleeved is hard, but its also a wonderful thing! One more tip: don't try too many new foods at once, so you can figure out what was OK and what needs more time. (I could eat Tomato and cheese, but no lettuce until yesterday! Yaaaa I had iceberg lettuce, tomato, gorgonzola cheese and Italian dressing - so good!) One meal at a time and you'll be fine!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
