Have you tried drinking broth or any other sugar-free beverages in between your Protein Shakes to take the edge off?

It gets better. I think the fourth day was worst for me. I felt tired and hungry and all of a sudden on the fifth day I woke up and had all kind of energy. After that you pretty much won't experience hunger like before. I have been sleeved for 4 months and I find myself forgetting to eat. And even when I eat something that is a little fattening, I don't have the urge to eat a lot of it. I used to eat 3 pieces of fried chicken, now I can only eat a drumstick. I used to eat half of a 16" pizza and now I take a couple of bites of the crust and eat the toppings off the rest of the slice. Sometimes I have my boyfriend order and eat a little bit off his plate. I have lost 45 lbs.

i am a musilim, so i fast every year, i assume the pre-op diet is kinda similar, except when you fast you dont eat or drink anything lol. hmm the best thing you can do is stay away from sugar and just try not to think about it too much, do other things like cleaning your house and maybe watch a movie or visit your friends so time passes quickly STAY BUSY!! theres nothing worse that lying around with nothing to do thinking "ii want fooodd"

It's especially rough when you are heavily dependent on refined carbohydrates like flour made from wheat or other grains. Most Americans have some sort of wheat product at every meal and snack. It reacts in our bodies JUST LIKE A DRUG.. that is why you feel like a crack addict. That's why you pass by a half eaten, ant covered, rotten sandwich on the sidewalk and think.. "oh, hey, That looks kind of good actually"

And yes, on most preop diets you are allowed sugar free non-caffenated, non-carbonated beverages and sugar free Jello, but every doctor is different... My preop diet even allows for one meal a day (if you can call 4ounces of chicken breast and a salad of dark leafy greens a meal)

It's NOTHING like doing a Ramadan fast. I've done both liquid diets and I've fasted during Ramadan and fasting during Ramadan is WAY easier.. You wake up and have a nice Breakfast.. go back to sleep for a while.. Go about your day.. then after sunset eat a nice light meal... then a few hours later eat again. And there's always someone inviting you over to eat and they always have LOTS of AMAZING FOODS. I've never eaten better in my life than I did during Ramadan! The only part about doing the Ramadan fast is if it's summer and you're someplace hot because you get SOOO THIRSTY.

Once you get into ketosis, you will stop feeling like chewing your arm off. It took me 3 days. I remember drinking a lot of chicken broth with cayenne pepper in it. For some reason, the hot pepper was very satieting to me. I am 1 month out from surgery and still love spicy, peppery stuff. Get the Unjury chicken Soup Protein Powder. It's really good post op.

First day on pre-op diet I am like a crack head in rehab

edz2129644

love your analogy

i "hear" pre-op diet can be very hard. preps you up for the real thing, you'll lose a bit now - this will help the liver situation

like a few others, my doc didn't put me on a pre-op diet, didn't require me to lose weight prior to WLS

in a way i wish i was told/forced to do a pre-op diet - (of course i could/should have done it on my own :( )

pre-op diet will get you used to "not eating" at first, then making you drink alot

everyone says it will get better, so i'm sure you'll manage these next few days

DOS 1/19/13 - one week from Thursday - it will be here before you know it :)

then you'll experience the long and wonderful road to health and happiness - roads can get bumpy at times - but usually all will be wonderful

good luck on your continueing pre-op diet, you will survive ;)

best wish WLS

speedy recovery

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
