Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous

Recommended Posts

Newme, one of the surprises for me is how I'm actually--gulp--enjoying(??) exercise now? Ok, not when I first started it, but by the end, I'm feeling pretty good. Glad you were able to get out your frustration with a workout!

I'm able to eat anything I want in small quantities - and I eat raw veggies every day!... but I can say that I don't crave "salad"... so you go girl!

I've been scared to try bread or salad! The only veggies I've had have been very soft from steamed. Broccoli and green Beans.

Have only tried crispy crackers (Melba Toast and Triscuits). No bread yet!

I had a piece of bread dunked in stew and it was ok, but I took really small bites. Haven't had salad yet.

I just had to share a fabulous NSV... I saw a co-worker today that I hadn't seen in over a month or so....she said, "wow - you look fantastic - like 10 years younger" Yay me!!! It's funny, because I look in the mirror and see ALOT more wrinkles as I lose the fat in my face - but evidently that's not what others are seeing! It certainly boosted my confidence today and made me go for those 12k steps that I was going to put off today :-)!!!

Hi everyone! I haven't had salad, but I have had bread. I take communion and they always seem to give me a large piece. I let it sit and melt in my mouth....I am usually walking out of church with the piece still in my mouth....lol!

Awesome Newme for the compliment! I still have to get a fit bit! You go girl with the 12k steps!

As for me.....so close to onederland.....I was at 202 on Tuesday! Come on! Have a great day everyone.....please send some warm weather vibes to the east coast!

Ok.....I was 199 today!!!!! I will not get too excited until I see that number on my scale a couple of days in a row! Some thing to think about.....they do not have to put the big chunk at 200 when they weigh me at a doctors office now!!!!!! Woo Hoo!

I am on my second stall since surgery. The scale is loving 207 and just won't let go... It's annoying but I keep telling myself that it won't last forever. I am just impatient because I want to get to onderland

I am the lightest I have been in I can't remember how long. I had a NSV realization the other day-- the weight that's on my drivers license which when I last renewed I sheepishly told the DOL gal a weight that we both knew was incorrect... is now still incorrect but now in reverse. :-)

I had my 2 month follow-up today... things are looking great - doctor said I'm a model patient and he said I am the essence of success with VSG! He was most impressed with my exercise routine, where I get in 12 - 15k steps a day and 3.5 miles of that are under 60 minutes sweating! He told me that most people are "just starting" their "real" exercise at this point in the game... so GO all of you that are exercising right now too :-)!! He likes my diet plan - except - I have to get more Protein in with food (I'm pretty much all food now because that is the plan they have me on) - but I'm only getting between 40 - 60 and he wants me at 60 g at least per day. He told me it is so important to ;building the muscle and losing the fat. He also wants me to incorporate resistance training (no weights yet greater than 5 lbs on each arm/wrist) - but to start toning this body that is starting to emerge!

Anyway - it was a great day and wanted to share with those that "get it"!

Hope all is going well for all of the other fellow Jan. 8th peeps!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
