I am curious how long most people have been off work for their surgery. I am at a new job and don't have much time I can take

Thanks in advance!

I took two weeks using the FMLA - Family Medical Leave Act. No PTO was used. One week was a necessity, the second week was needed (although I have mostly a desk job, so I could have gone back sooner if I had to).

I was back in a week at a desk job. I could have come back a little earlier if I had to. Everyone is different though. You really need to listen to your body and not push it.

I took 2 and a half weeks, but I am a paramedic and therefore am pretty active at work. I know that after a week I felt like I could have worked if I new it wouldn't have been to busy but obviously at my job you don't ever expect it to be quiet. good luck

My Dr likes everyone to take 4 weeks off. Not because you aren't healed at that point, but to devote your total focus to getting your protein/fluid during those first few weeks. Although I have a desk job, I cannot imagine trying to do all of this at work, it would be a nightmare. I've worked for Chase for almost 10 years, so I can have up to 14 weeks off with full pay for a Short Term Disability Leave. I'm also protected through FMLA if I need additional days here and there after the 4 weeks is up.

I would have gone out of my mind if I was off for four weeks. I worked Dec 18th then flew out for surgery and didn't come back till Jan 2nd. Thankfully we go "dark" between Christmas and New Year which was my main reason for wanting to do it then. I had enough time off. I feel fine to sit all day and I'm making these strapping boys around here lift and carry things. :D Two weeks is, I think, enough time unless you have a strenuous job and then play it by ear. You will be down on energy a bit.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
