Is anyone else having issues with family? It seems like for me I have to be on the defense about this surgery with everyone. They always have to tell me why it's not a good idea, and how I'm making a terrible decision. Of course, I think otherwise, but it's getting exhausting trying to defend my decision. I'm not really the type to keep it to myself and sneak off and do it, but sometimes I wish that I would have just kept my mouth shut about it! Lol

The best part is when I opened the front door and she has a half eaten cookie hanging out of her mouth while trying not to spill the rest of the tray!!

OMG, this is *totally* my mother! That's why I didn't tell her.

I feel like I can somewhat relate. I'm not so sure my family is unsupportive' date=' they just get quiet when I mention it. It bums me out because I'm really excited and i went them to be excited for me and they aren't. My husband is very supportive though so that helps. I know how much you want to have your family support you but they may not until after your surgery and they may not even then. But your verticalsleevetalk family will always support you! Message me if you just need to talk, vent, cry.. anything!!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />)[/quote']

I'm not married, and my Mom has to stay here with my 3 year old so I can have the surgery. I will more than likely be going alone, and that really scares me, but I'm a strong person and I can do this! Reading all these motivational stories is what keeps me from going insane! :)

I am going alone also to Mexico. My Hubs can't take off work. Well I have a sleeve buddy but we won't be flying at the same time, just meeting up in mexico. I understand the being sared part cos I kind of am too but I've said it a million times and I'll say it again lol I'm gonna die skinny or im gonna die trying :) cause I am so just sick of me. You said you have a child? Then stop worrying about what other people think, I know that is easier said then done but you do this for you and your child. Nobody else really matters love.

You're right. I can't help but think of the bad things that could possibly happen though... I have read a few complication stories that have really made me think long and hard about this. It's a stressful decision for sure

I have 2 friends that will be coming with me. One is getting sleeved the same day as me and the other one is just coming to take care of us. So if u do come alone we will help u as much as we can.

I will also have my surgery on the 7th by Garcia!! :))

Wow can't wait to meet everybody. U coming Alone

Not to be blunt but fear is an anchor holding us down, we gotta let that **** go!!! Bad things could happen anywhere in the united states. Bad things can happen if you never even thought about having a surgery. Nobody knows their destiny. You do what you have to do for you and your baby and don't let fear hold you back anymore!
