I kicked the soda habbitts months before surgery along with caffeine. I am so glad I did because all these changes are hard enough with out going through caffeine and soda withdrawals on top of it.

I am so sorry for those that are going through that but pre sleeves be warned give up the bad happiest now because after the relationship with food is different you don't need anything extra bringing you down.

Habbitts not happiness although.....

Wow I thought soda was a no no for all. You are the first I have heard say otherwise.

They only say its a no no so we don't go back into our old eating happits. They have every body scared about the sleeve being streched when their is no data to prove that

My doc said you can have it if it is diet, caf free, and flat...but what is the point then?

I miss sex! Boy bump the soda

I miss sex! Boy bump the soda

Good one. I'm over a year without sex so again i miss the SODA

Omg yes. I am a Pepsi drinker but love coke from McDonalds i use to have one every morning

Me too! I'm at McDonald's as we speak. I took a sip of my son's coke but that was it. I just can't think all this sacrifice for nothing if I return to it. It's so hard.

I miss soda .. Cherry coke :( in 3 weeks I will sip

I had a diet coke the other night, drank it really slow over about an hour. I was fine. Why is everyone saying they have to stay away? I understand regular soda but diet once in a while should be ok.

Day two without a coke the carbonation is what I love...pre surgery thou and I want one...like a child I want want want it!

I am two months out. Have lost 34 pounds. I have a sip or two everyday of soda. Hasn't seemed to effect the weight.

People think it will stretch your sleeve. I really don't believe this since to me larger quantities of food are more likely to stretch your stomach than some lighter than air bubbles in a few ounces of pop.

I mostly quit pop in may after the seminar, which said no more pop, no real explanation as to why . However, I was a freaking addict about the stuff and it was all I drank, a lot of people around this forum are. I've had 3 pops in the last 6 weeks or so. It's well Water in my area and during christmas parties some houses have undrinkable water for me (I can't do the taste). It took me well over an hour to finish them and it didn't satisfy the way it used to. The pleasant sizzle that I crave is now a burn that I can't stand and I can feel the gas bubbles in my normal, pre surgery stomach. It's more drinkable than well water though.

On a side note, I couldn't help but feel my brain reacting really positively while I drank it. My brain was saying knock it back but my tongue was screaming about the burn and then my stomach was a little upset. I think it left my system a little shocked. I had been drinking 6-8 cans a day since I was around 10 so the pathway in my brain is well established but after roughly 6 months of no pop it's just so different for me.
