Wow great job!!!! What an inspiration to me. I go tomorrow for my first consult. I am a self payer so in hope it goes quick!!

How exciting for you!! I hope it all goes quickly but look at it this way - you've waited this long, and you're on the fast track now!

I feel really proud to be an inspiration to anyone - it hasn't always been easy and I've had those fleeting moments of, "Ugh, what did I get myself into?" But never regret, not even for a second. And then to have it come off as fast and consistently as it has been, I've been really lucky. I would go back and do it again without a second thought!

Good Grief!! That was dramatic to say the least, you look like an entirely different person. Not saying the old you was bad, but everyone looks better when the are healthy. Mission Accomplished on that front, cant wait to have my day on the table. Do you have any issues with hair loss? I have been reading posts about people losing quickly and experiencing this, I am Oh Sooo "Terrified" :o. Again you look really really really great, congratulations on your success!

Oh THANK YOU!!! Yeah I hear that I look totally different a lot... never thought it would be such a nice compliment LOL. It probably doesn't help that I colored my hair either.

About the hair loss... yeah, I definitely had it. I'll give it to you straight - I was a little freaked out at first. It first started around 4-5 months post-op but by 8 months (a couple weeks ago) I definitely noticed it was coming back in and getting thick again. NOW - full disclosure - I had a LOT of hair, and it was ok, in honesty I had plenty to lose.My hairdressers always told me I had the most hair they had ever seen. I'm really happy with the thickness it is now, actually. But, I did lose about half my total hair. I doubt that people with less hair lose that volume. Everyone I hear about losing half their hair always say that they have tons of hair to start with. I was always a shedder anyway :)

Please feel free to ask any other questions that come up, I am always eager to help! Good luck with everything!!!

You look awesome! Congratulations! I will be glad when I hit the 100 lb mark and get to onderland!!!

Look how far you've already come!! Great job - one huge milestone for me was getting out of the "obese" BMI category and get into the "overweight" one, as weird as that sounds hehe. And it looks like you're almost there with that too, according to your ticker! Congrats on all the success so far :)

I have very long and thick Dreadlocks, it won't be so cute when they are falling on the floor  . Hey but to return to my former self, it will be worth every lock that falls on the floor. I can always buy a wig, as my mom says it's just hair and it grows back. I thought about getting the surgery years ago but my husband didn't want me to get it, he kept saying just try diet and exercise. (he's 130lbs easy for him to say) He kept saying "I still love you regardless of what you weigh" and don't do elective surgeries "you could die".The problem is I don't love my outer self,as far as diets when wasn't I on one and I am going to die from my comorbidities. Now that he see's my health and my energy taking a nose dive, and these issues could become serious he has been 100% on board. Also my youngest has never seen me thin, I don't want him to ever feel embarrassed of me because kids do talk. Again I can't say enough how Great you look congratulations to you, it wasn't the surgery alone that got you there it was your hard work! :)

Congrats on your weight loss. That is a huge accomplishment. Any tips? Were you able to get in all of your Protein and Water in every day? How much did you exercise a week?

Thank you everyone!!!! I actually posted a more recent update to my journey here:

http://www.verticals...o-128-pictures/

Here is an updated before/after pic:

Before and After - 241 to 128

I'm down about 10lbs more than the lowest ones in the pictures from when I started this original post! Never, ever thought I would get that low (128lbs) and I seem to be hanging there for the last month or so, so I may be close to done losing and into maintaining. As I head into Summer and spend more time outside I am hoping to get down about 5 more pounds so that I can gain and lose that without worrying about it.

I appreciate the support and can't tell you how much it has helped me along the way. So much love :)

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
