Ok 3 months out Christmas Day, 53 lbs total and I'm thrilled.... My periods are weird.... This month was a week later and all brown ( sorry) like at the typical end of period???!? I'm certain it's something to do w rapid weight loss, what do y'all think!?

Thanks brandy :)

I'm sure it's a combo of hormones and rapid weight loss. Granted I wasn't sleeved yet but my last one was like that. But I was SOOOOO stressed with everything before surgery that I think that is what happened.

Of course everyone is different but I would bet it's a combo of both above. When in doubt call your ob. ;-)

With all the stress and pre-op diet i had one every 2 weeks! The last one seemed normal and ended while i was in recovery at the hospital. Hoping it stays kinda normal but i hear it doesn't most likely so i too have yet to find out

I had my period before I had surgery & then it returned less than a week after surgery. It was VERY heavy for 2 weeks. My doctor's office said that it is normal to have really erratic periods because as we lose weight quickly our fat cells are dumping estrogen into our system. Lucky us. As we get closer to our goal weight our periods should regulate. Good luck to you!

I am a month out and got mine a bit early and had the same issues as you for the first three days...then two days of regular menses.

I haven't had a period yet but I am not due until next week. However, I felt compelled to tell you (just in case), that when I became pregnant for my last child (I have 3), I had a "period" like that. It was actually blood from the egg implanting. Not trying to rattle your cage at all but thought it was worth a mention just in case so you can look into that if there is a possibility.

I had my surgery on November 28th, I had my period going into surgery & since then I have had it every 2 weeks. It is normal to have irregular periods from all of the hormone changes. This week it has been all brown ((sorry)). It is annoying getting it so often but I feel that once I'm down to a healthier weight it will balance out & be normal.

If you have your period going into surgery do you have to tell them? Or just put a tampon in and you're good to go?

You tell them and likely they will want you to have a pad verses a tampon. If something happens and you aren't able to deal with the tampon, someone else would need to. This also alleviates a pre surgery blood test which a lot of them do for possible pregnancy.

I had this same thing happen to me. I figured I was spotting and my periods were late because of surgery and the stress on my body. But I am now 5 mos pregnant..... So I guess my problems were for a different reason lol

Surgery Date 8-02-12 weight: 330 present weight: 220

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
