Post Op And Flu
Hi all. Not sleeved yet but had a thought today as I suffered through a reaction to antibiotic for a bacterial infection. Anyways. When I have the flu I also drink sprite and eat soups or buttered noodles and crackers to help settle my stomach. I know after the sleeve those are no-nos. any of you get the flu weeks, months, years after sleeving? If so what did you eat/drink to help you? Thanks

Failed Over Night Pulse Ox
Last Friday I went to my pulmanologist apt. The doctor was very surprised that I am"fairly" healthy other than high BMI. No known comorbidities. He was trying to bypass the sleep test if I didn't need it and sent me home with a pulse ox tester to wear overnight. If that was positive or signs of apnea then I would have to schedule the sleep study. Well got the call today and I failed the overnight pulse ox. So now I have to go fr a sleep study. If I do have apnea knowing that the surgery and losing weight will hopefully make that go away. Can you rent those cpap machines or do you have to buy them? Anyone know?

Wasnt Prepared ...
.. for all the waiting. I know doctors run late but man. Guess I should get used to this while ore-op. Probably just a bad week but Wednesday had my 1st consult with my surgeon. The scheduler sent us to the wrong building. Once we got there we were only 10-15 minutes late. Not too bad! I was pissed because it took us 20 minutes to find parking but got over it. Then we waiting 1 1/2 to see the doctor! Not because we were late because he was. I am now sitting at the pulmanologist and waiting, waiting and waiting to see him. Happy Friday all!

Just Decided To Do This
you can call bcbs directly and ask them what their requirements are to get approved. i bypassed my gp and went right to the surgeon. i've been overweight my whole life currently 5'8" and 325lbs as of this morning at my consultation. my insurance doesn't require a referral so i went to a seminar on 8/4 and today had my consultation. i am also getting antsy so i am trying to do things to help speed up the process. bcbs of il sayed a bmi of 35 with 2 comorbidities or 40+ bmi w/none. i have a list somewhere from them of what they require. i sent them a question online and they sent me a letter that explained the above and also layed out all the pre-op stuff that is required for their approval. good luck!

I'm So Anxious And Excited...
to start this journey! had my consult today and it went well. dr said i am a candidate for single incision but i am right at the cusp. so if they get in and see that they can't do it then of course with will do it the normal way. i honestly don't care either way but i feel if they can hide the scars then great, if not, no big deal. i just want to do this! the dr seemed very eager to help me and do this as well. was very knowledgeable and serious about his decisions. i will hear in a couple weeks if between him and my insurance i get pre-approval. not sure of the exact wording they used but i have to wait to hear from them. i just wanna do this!
