  1. Awesome. Thanks for the help everyone!
  2. See everyone talking about the pre-op diet shrinking your liver. I've never had any type of surgery before and I also haven't had my consult yet....what is the purpose of shrinking the liver and how do they know it's enlarged? I never heard that before coming to this site. Thanks!
  3. Sherry can you provide a link to your hospital journey post? Thanks
  4. Nice to see some of you going through the Kane center. Eases my nerves a bit . Good luck to all of you!
  5. I have my first apt with dr rantis on 8/29. I went to the group mtg on 8/4. Good luck at yours! .
  6. Hey there. I just posted this same question in the post op group. Hope this hopes! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/49008-acid-refluxheart-burn-post-op/
  7. All these approvals are making me so anxious. I just wanna get things rolling and do this already . Have my first apt with the surgeon august 29 and I also already scheduled my pulmanologist August 31. Baby steps baby steps. I just can't wait to write that thread that I'm approved! This site has been so helpful already I'm so glad I found it! On another note I do get all nervous and think things like "oh thanksgiving and Christmas are coming, what am I going to eat if I'm sleeves by then". My hubs finally smacked me (not really) and just stated the obvious. He said one day I will be able to eat those things again just a very small portion. He also said eating like that put me in this position and he is so right! I know the first few weeks will be rough but I can do it! Happy Saturday everyone.
  8. Hmm...ok thanks peeps. I of course will definitely talk to my surgeon about this topic. I'm just so set on this procedure that I don't want heartburn forcing me into bypass . Grrrrr
  9. Hi all. Fairly new here in the beginning stages of my journey! I have my apt with the surgeon August 29! Anyways I suffir from acid reflux already (not sure if it's heartburn or acid reflux) and take lansoprazale. I heard that the sleeve can cause reflux/heartburn. Anyone out there that had either one prior to surgery and let me know if it got any worse or better after surgery? And by after I mean a few months after. Mines not that bad but enough that it exists. I take my medicine every other day. Thanks!
  10. Lovemeifyoucan lol. my friend just had a baby and a few weeks ago she asked me what she should bring to the hospital. i told her an extension cord too
  11. i just had a simliar post the other day! i opted for the nutri-bullet. so far so good. you can leave it run longer to get more smoothie types or you can turn it off sooner to get more mushed up. i can keep you posted if yo like as i experiment. i know a lot of people on amazon probably havent gone through what we are/will be going through i spent a few nights reading reviews on amazon on all the blenders, juicers, etc. that i was interested in. good luck!
  12. Hey there. I too am post op. at the beginning of my journey. I have my surgeon consultation the end of August. Hoping all will go through and I can have this done by the end of the year. I'm in IL, 30ish, married with a child . I'm so excited about doing this! I finally see light at the end of the tunnel.

  16. Hey peeps, I'm fairly new to the group and in beginning stages of my process. Having my consult 8/29. Just wondering what to expect at the psych eval? What so you talk about? I've never been to one before. What if I don't get approved bc I say something wrong? It's freaking me out lol.

  20. greetings, new to the board, in the very beginning stages of this process. went to my first seminar today at alexian brothers. was wondering those in this area, how did you choose your doctor, do you recommend them? i have a bmi of 50 with no comorbidities and just ready to do this. i was originally considering RNY until i found out about the sleeve and now this just seems to be the better choice for me. any advice, info etc. on this journey is greatly appreciated.
