  1. i know each plan is different but our plan covers 80% of in network once deductible has been met. anyone know roughly what a sleeve costs? do most places let you make payments on your balance before or after the surgery? i go to my consultation this week so i will get more answers soon enough...im just getting antsy and want answers .
  2. I hear ya Robyn! I'm hit or miss with sweets. My big thing right now is cutting out coke. Day 1 is today!
  3. And Gustavo- everything you said was perfect! Thanks
  4. Thank you all. What all of you say really makes a lot of sense. I was definitely in a mood last night and I have definitely been more aware of what I'm putting in my mouth. But like I said earlier, with that is coming all these other feelings! But I do know this is the right thing for me to do! I have so much weight to lose! I have a BMI of 50 with no comorbidities and it's just time to get it under control and start living! Love this board so much!
  5. So I made a list of cons today and every one of the cons had something to do with never being able to eat certains foods anymore. Not one of them had something to do with risk factors .... Is that wrong? Or unusually? Ever since I started this journey (and I am at the very beginning stages) I realized how focused my life is around food. I am so excited and so happy about the sleeve because I feel like that will helpe break this terrible cycle I have been on for a long time. Tonight we celebrated my hubs bday and we drank, ate lots of food, etc. the entire time we sat there I was thinking in the back of my head...I'll never be able to drink again, il never be able to have a coke, il never be able to eat like this. Then I think but that's how I got in this situation. Are these normal thoughts of the unknown? Of what's to come after sleeving? I know down the road I'll be able to enjoy some of these things again but in smaller portions... Oh I'm just ranting...too many beers, too much thinking. Please don't be mean. Just want to know if these thoughts are normal?
  6. I would like to know as well about the fmla. Sounds like my work you can't use it for surgery. It would have to be an illness or sickness. Not planned or some crap...
  7. Oops. Damn big fingers. The day my hubs and I were going to the seminar we kept getting stuck in little roads blocks that were preventing us from getting there on time. Both of us said maybe it was gods sign telling us not to get the surgery... So yes I understand
  8. Glad you are ok! My brain works the same way
  9. Awesome. Thanks for the help everyone!
  10. See everyone talking about the pre-op diet shrinking your liver. I've never had any type of surgery before and I also haven't had my consult yet....what is the purpose of shrinking the liver and how do they know it's enlarged? I never heard that before coming to this site. Thanks!
  11. I have my first apt with dr rantis on 8/29. I went to the group mtg on 8/4. Good luck at yours! .
  12. Hey there. I just posted this same question in the post op group. Hope this hopes! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/49008-acid-refluxheart-burn-post-op/
  13. All these approvals are making me so anxious. I just wanna get things rolling and do this already . Have my first apt with the surgeon august 29 and I also already scheduled my pulmanologist August 31. Baby steps baby steps. I just can't wait to write that thread that I'm approved! This site has been so helpful already I'm so glad I found it! On another note I do get all nervous and think things like "oh thanksgiving and Christmas are coming, what am I going to eat if I'm sleeves by then". My hubs finally smacked me (not really) and just stated the obvious. He said one day I will be able to eat those things again just a very small portion. He also said eating like that put me in this position and he is so right! I know the first few weeks will be rough but I can do it! Happy Saturday everyone.
  14. Hmm...ok thanks peeps. I of course will definitely talk to my surgeon about this topic. I'm just so set on this procedure that I don't want heartburn forcing me into bypass . Grrrrr
  15. Hi all. Fairly new here in the beginning stages of my journey! I have my apt with the surgeon August 29! Anyways I suffir from acid reflux already (not sure if it's heartburn or acid reflux) and take lansoprazale. I heard that the sleeve can cause reflux/heartburn. Anyone out there that had either one prior to surgery and let me know if it got any worse or better after surgery? And by after I mean a few months after. Mines not that bad but enough that it exists. I take my medicine every other day. Thanks!
  16. i just had a simliar post the other day! i opted for the nutri-bullet. so far so good. you can leave it run longer to get more smoothie types or you can turn it off sooner to get more mushed up. i can keep you posted if yo like as i experiment. i know a lot of people on amazon probably havent gone through what we are/will be going through i spent a few nights reading reviews on amazon on all the blenders, juicers, etc. that i was interested in. good luck!
  17. Wow you look amazing! Thanks for sharing. I'm in the beginning stages of my journey and I am so excited to do this. I finally feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel! Keep up the good work.
  18. Very interesting but sort of what I thought. Awesome. Thanks for the responses!
  19. Excellent. I'll have to check it out. Never heard of the ninja!
  20. Hey peeps, I'm fairly new to the group and in beginning stages of my process. Having my consult 8/29. Just wondering what to expect at the psych eval? What so you talk about? I've never been to one before. What if I don't get approved bc I say something wrong? It's freaking me out lol.
