Head hunger / Post op day 5

Recommended Posts

So, I went to a Christmas party tonight. There was so much food, and everything smelled so good. I wanted to eat so badly. I brought a Protein Shake with me, and I was satisfied with it; but honesly I longed for 'real food'

Am I being to hard on myself?

I am invited out to Christmas dinner next week, but now I am doubting if I should go. I'm afraid the temptation will be too great.

I had surgery 3 weeks ago. Two days after my own birthday and one week after my son's birthday. My granddaughter's birthday was Dec 4. Thanksgiving was in there (the pre-op diet). I went to my granddaughters dinner and we had it at Bob Evans (she wanted me to cook her a meal). Not this year sweet pea. I sat there 5 days after surgery sipping ice Water while everyone ate dumplings, pancakes smothered in whipped cream, chicken fried steak smothered in gravy. You get the picture. Then for her birthday cake a whole coca cola cake and everyone said it tasted like a brownie my fave.

Needless to say that was the last holiday party I have attended. I'm still not all the way well and just don't want to go through that again.

I did make one decesion correctly. I had our family Thanksgiving before the pre-op diet and that was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving so I did not miss that family day. I think everyone was glad because the majority went out shopping on Thanksgiving.

I am having Christmas Eve and there will be 12 of us and I am making a amount of food that I can enjoy. It will be great. It's almost here.

this too shall pass. i had terrible "head hunger" the first month. now four months out i can honestly say it goes away. just hang in there.

i have learned how to cut up my food into super small bites so i can eat as long as everyone else at the table. you are doing great. have a lovely holiday.

I had my surgery two weeks before Thanksgiving last year and it was reported to me by my family that they thought I might kill someone!!! LOL!!!

I remember just wanting to put REAL food in my mouth. And the fact that EVERY SINGLE commercial on TV was food related didn't help the situation!! I was miserable and miserable to be around!!!

Hang in there....the holidays will pass, you'll move on to real food (eventually) and you'll love your sleeve!!!

I like to equate having this surgery with giving birth....It seems absolutely horrible at the time and you ask yourself why you did it. But then when you look back on it a year later, you say it wasn't that bad and you'd do it all over again!!!

I am 12 days post op. went to my daughters school Christmas party and was offered multiple times pizza, cokes, and Desserts by parents who didn't know. As I sat and visited I just kept thinking of all the damage that food has done to me over the past 20 years. When that didn't work I reminded my self of the terrible stomach bug going around school , and how bad that would hurt if I caught that. I really want to take my girls to the movies but dread smelling popcorn and hearing slurping and munching.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
