I don't like protein shakes but I like this...

Recommended Posts

I am taking a liquid form of Protein called Promod. I was given this stuff after a surgery a year ago. It made sense for me to hunt it down and use it now (on full liquids). It's literally smaller than a shot and it's fruit flavored. 1 oz= 10grams of protein. It's sold on Amazon.< /p>

Just sharing! For those of us who may be struggling to get protein in.

Thanks for sharing I will look it up. I am currently using the chocolate shake by Premier Protein shakes. I buy a case from costco $25 and they are 11oz 30 grams of Protein each. Have a great day!!

I had a hard time with whey Protein after surgery so I used a soy Protein shake from trader joe's it was really gentle on my stomach. My stomach has gotten better and I can have some whey but I try to watch my intake. If you can deal with it then it is the best for helping to lose the weight.

That product contains hydrolyzed collagen which is of no nutritional value to you post sleeve surgery. You need whey Protein if at all possible.

Yes, it does contain it...but it also contains amino acids to make it useful. I'm not sure why a nutritionist would give this to her patients (cancer, post-bariatrics, and those with waisting syndrome) if it wasn't useful. I'm not pushing it, it's just what I'm using. I have tried whey and I don't care for the bulk. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion! I am allergic to soy. I tried it pre-surgery and scrarched for hours. LOL! I tried it again because I have never had a food allergy (that I knew of)....yep, it was the itchy and scratchy show all over again.

I think we need whey isolate because our stomachs can not process collagen/ full Protein powders. We do not have the digestive abilities of a full stomach.

A lot of people choose different Proteins because they cannot tolerate the whey isolate.

Good luck to everyone and stay healthy <3

The thing about collagen Protein is it's great for the regeneration of connective tissue and skin. But after WLS what you need most is to prevent your muscles from going into a catabolic state. That's when your body starts burning your muscles for fuel because of your severely reduced intake of calories. You don't want that, but your body is happy to do it because it sees those muscles as unnecessary and actually detrimental to the survival of your other systems (like heart and lungs). Your body sees those muscles as a draw of calories that could be better used elsewhere. You have to save your muscles from yourself, and whey protein does that better than anything because it is absorbed so fast by the body. So pound for pound, it will do the most good for preventing a catabolic state than any other protein. There are other Proteins that will do some good, but they are just not as fast absorbing as the whey.

**update** Yesterday I got a sample pack from Celebrate (totally forgot I'd ordered it). Their protien powder wasn't half bad. I just ordered a sample from Chike. We'll see how it goes! Thanks all!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
