First Very Bad Experience...

Recommended Posts

Okay, I just posted this morning how normal I was feeling...until my experience tonight. I am 4 weeks post-op tomorrow. I went to a "Christmas dinner" tonight. I ate some ham, few bites of mashed potatoes and some green Beans. I chewed thoroughly and stopped eating when I started feeling "that full feeling". I decided to try a tiny bite of brownie for dessert. It was about the size of a cube of cheese. About 15 minutes later I started feeling extremely nauseous and had that "I have to get out of here feeling". I ran to my vehicle and stood behind it while saliva poured out of my mouth. I thought for sure I was going to throw up but never did. The feeling passed in about an hour, but still have a dull headache. Could it have been that tiny bite of brownie? That is probably the sweetest thing I have had in 4 weeks.

Sure taught me a lesson. I don't want that to happen again. I have never thrown up once since my surgery and don't want to start now!

thanksgiving i ate a little bit of everything within hours i was throwing up and diarrea all night up until the next morning it felt worse than a virus or food poison it just wouldnt stop. i lost 5lbs of Fluid over night.

my dr told me i had an acute dumping and it was from the excess carbs and fat. your potatos most likely had butter in it the ham most likely had brown sugar on it when it was cooked and the bite of brownie well sugar. you are only 4 weeks out and your body is not ready for that yet. i also never threw up until that day. lesson learned for me. christmas i am glad im working no food man.

I went thru HELL after a small bowl of homemade potato Soup, the same soup I had eaten previously that same week when I was as far out as you are now. Girl, I thought I was gonna die!!!! I wish I could puked! I felt like I had instantly contracted some sort of crazy ass flu! Had fever, cold sweats, muscle PAIN.... wanted to crawl out of my skin HORRIBLE!!!! It lasted about 2 hours, then I was fine. This, my dear, is dumping! To those that say we can't experience that- BULLSHIT! I am still afraid to try potato soup again. Lol

I am 18 months post op and for me it doesn't matter what the food is, if I take that "one last bite" after I'm full I will be sick as a dog! I also feel almost lightheaded and like I can't see straight if I eat even one bite too many. I don't know what it is but it feels terrible.

Vidalia, welcome to sliming! Yup, I'm out 3 + years and if I try just "one more little thing" I slime like a snake for about 1/2 hour. . . it's hard to break old habits, but this one isn't fun at all! Good luck!

This happened to me yesterday and my poor hubs had to lie to the waitress and say Iwas in my early stages of pregnancy because she was ready to get the manager at the restaurant to intervene...I looked so sick and they thought for sure I had food posioning!!! :(

I would stick with Protein and no carbs. It'll be better for your weight loss and you won't have to deal with such awful experiences like that.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
