Just wondering how long after surgery you guys felt up to using an elliptical or treadmill for 30 mins or so.

About 2 weeks after, the dr recommend not to do any strenght exercises however cardio we can do as long as we are no pushing ourselves too hard, listen to your body.

It also depends on your body and how fast it heals, i was back to myself about a week after surgery. (Thank God) havent started the gym yet but i asked the very same question to my dr and thats what he told me, starting this coming week!

I was back on the treadmill 6 days after surgery. I'm up to 40 minutes at 3.0mph level 3 5 days a week. I've been on the elliptical trainer, but still had my staples in and was a little sore. Back to the gym tomorrow (13 days out) and I will be on the elliptical, then a round of machines for upper body work and finish with 15-20 minutes back on the treadmill. Not ready for squats or leg lifts, but won't be long.

Hi! I waited six weeks per surgeons directions, but honestly I don't think I could've done it sooner. I was extremely exhausted for the first month and a half or so. I did walk outside though but nothing over a mile and it was at a slow to mid pace.

I'm 3 weeks out and starting the gym again tomorrow. I am blessed to have a free trainer through my job. I honestly can't wait.!!

I would give it 2 weeks, see how you feel out there and slowly increase. Its not a marathon so don't go crazy until your ready.

Milz, I had a trainer before and loved the results. It helped me to have someone make sure my form was correct and also push me to do just a little bit more. How are you feeling at three weeks out? How's the losing going?

I feel great. I went to the gym today and did the treadmill. I lost 20 lbs since the surgery and 43lbs total. This was the best decision I've made. Where are you in your journey?

I'm 3 days post-op and went to the gym this morning. Did 36 mins on the tredmill at 2.0 mph and 1-2 incline, not my personal best, but it's a start. I also did one rep of chest, shoulders, and back on the machines. My doctor cleared me for the gym with light weight training the day I was discharged. His motto is "if it hurts then stop". He's a huge advocate to exercise as a major component to successful weight loss with the sleeve.

I'm still energy deprived, but I also l know you have to expend energy to gain energy.

Wow, you did all this exercise 3 days post op!

I am impressed and jealous of your recovery. I felt like crap for about 3 weeks post-op and only could do walking per doctor. Doctor cleared me for cardio after 6 weeks and weights after 8 weeks. You want to be sure to give yourself time to heal and get strong. My doctor is a big advocate of exercise also, but only in terms of walking in order to heal without complications. Be careful and good luck.

Wow...I'm 9 days post, and am walking about 10 houses down and back, about 3 times a day. That's about all I can do, before my left hip and back start bothering me. It's a start though, right?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
