Recommended Posts

Hey then why did you tell me you were on the

"Slim fast" diet????

I thought I told you I was just making "better choices" LOL

I think the weird thing about this thread is that it refers to "lying"

I wrote this on a different thread also;

I really don't think that choosing not to tell "everyone" is out of shame' date=' not loving yourself,

or lying!

We all are just different...people in my life know about it. And yes I've even told a few strangers about it. But it is my choice my decision on who and when to tell and I reserve the right to change my mind about it everyday!

So live on people some like to tell, some don't!

And some of us are all over the place[/quote']

The thing about it is if you don't want to tell you should say I don't feel comfortable talking about or something of that sort not like lying for example I'm doing it on my on .. Because you give ppl unrealistic hopes not saying ppl can't lose on their on but ppl see sleevers and think they can achieve those same results that all I'm saying

Oh if someone asks me how I'm doing it, I will definitely say how!!! Because they asked.

I'm just talking about in general as in everyday life like going out to a function I don't feel the need sometimes to tell a random person why I'm not eating very much... Sometimes I talk about it sometimes I don't.

I guess what I was trying to say is it doesn't mean I don't have a good sense of self or I am ashamed.

Does that make sense?

When I don't tell people it IS NOT LYING! They ask and I tell them I eat healthier and control my proportions. That is not a lie.

It's my choice to whom I tell. Simple as that.

Also.. How do you know she was lying? Maybe she was on the thin end of yo-yo dieting? Also, perhaps you are not considered a friend she wants yo confide in? I have friends and family that I won't tell because I know what they are like..

Regardless of how an individual chooses to cope with what they are saying, it is still a lie... Lying by omission. Had you not had your tool, do any of us think we would have dropped that amount of weight in such a short time... NO! I wouldn't have been to survive on 400, 600, 800 calorie diet.

It is your choice whether you choose to share because it is your biz, but I guarantee you that if most of those individuals who choose to omit their "tool" lost weight the conventional way, you wouldn't be able to shut them up! So why play down the sleeve, as if you are doing it by yourself. If you don't want to disclose the full truth, don't say anything. At least you would not be setting someone up whose trying to lose a significant amount of weight up for failure.

Just my thoughts.

I didn't tell anyone pre-op besides a few members of my family. I thought I would be more selective in who I told post-op, but I haven't been. I had a change of heart.

A couple months ago an acquaintance who I personally know had a WLS, started selling those body wraps that are supposed to shrink your cellulite. After struggling to market them and get customers, a couple weeks ago she started telling people that her weight loss came from the body wraps. Seriously?!?!

So my change of heart came from that. I personally don't want to give someone the idea that I could have this kind of success though just working out and eating right, because the truth is...I couldn't. If someone cares enough to ask, I will be honest. So what if they judge me? My true friends won't. And I could care less what anyone else thinks.

That is my two cents on my situation. Not telling anyone else what or how to do it. Everyone of us has a different journey and different circumstances.

So it seems that you are speaking about when a significantly overweight acquaintance asks???

I think not everyone here is referring to that scenario..

I really think coming down on someone because of their personal experience and the way they chose to deal with it is very judgmental... And not constructive in the least bit..

Yep.. I sure could do it and have a gazillion times and that's probably why no one asks me how I'm losing weight. They are very accustomed to me be becoming thin over and over again. I will be using the sleeve tool to remain thin.. So perhaps that's when they will ask me how I'm doing it.

I find it interesting that some people think it's ok to even put other in a position to have to answer this question. Just because you ask, doesn't mean I'm obligated to answer the way you want. The person asking is the one overstepping, in my opinion. It's not right to paint the person responding as a liar because you put them on the spot with a personal question.

Let's put it this way, if you ask someone a question that could reasonably be answered with, "That's private" or "I don't feel comfortable answering that" - you probably shouldn't have asked it in the first place.

It is a personal choice and no busisness of anyone elses that she had WLS surgery if infact she did !! It amazes me that people think they have to know everything about someone and call them liars when a person does not like what they are told. Why are you so concerned with if she had it or not if you think she did and you want the surgery call for a consult. You nor anyone else have the right to condim her for not tell you her busisness!!!!

Ditto. Maybe its the southern girl in me...but I was raised you never ask someone how much money they make, about their weight or their politics. There isn't a polite way to ask those questions and it puts the person on the spot (by forcing an answer), which is incredibly rude. I don't care if they are family or friends or a perfect stranger. You never ask...wait for them to bring it up. Much like you never ask if a woman is expecting!

And its not a lie of omission if it wasn't any of your business to begin with.

A very thin co-worker just stopped me in the hall and said I am wasting away (HA! never heard THAT before). She asked what I was doing and I told her high Protein, cutting down on sugars, starch and processed foods, and exercise. To most here, I lied like a rug, and didn't feel a pang of regret. :)))

I am not judging anyone because in the end I truly don't care if a person tells the truth or if they do not because it is their preference. And I am thinking with the overweight person in mind.

Am I judging anyone, no, but I am giving my opinion on how that could be misleading.

So please miss me with your last statement.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
