My surgery is booked for March 4th in Puerto Vallarta... my brother just found out what I'm doing and my mom hasn't talked to me since I told her I was going to do this 2 weeks ago.

I have no support from my family, and my brother told me to include him in my will :|

Here is the website...

Comments anyone?

Please god let someone have some positive comments!!!!

I'm thinking I'm going to wake up with no organs left... or that they're not actually going to do the surgery.. lol someone help me please!

Give your family some time. My mom threw me out of her house when I told her what I wanted to do. I was devastated- I have never been thrown out of my parents house. But then she came around after I provided more information and documentation that getting surgery in Mexico isn't as scary as it sounds. Americans wouldn't even be going to Mexico if our health care system was better.

I think you are making a great decision that will better your life. I had my surgery down in the beginning of September in Mexico. Had a great experience and felt the care was superior to what I have had here in the states. As my surgery got closer it was a running joke among friends to make sure I bring both my kidneys back with me. But with the proper information my parents felt better and so did my friends. Hang in there. Your family loves you, they will come around.

I know, it's hard when I have zero support. My brother told me to include him in my will... seriously this isn't what I need right now. I have a few friends who are trying to support me but wish I had someone going with me... I would but everyone is working when I can go.

i had surgery in Mexico with dr. Almanza... i'm a 41 single female and went alone. i did enough research of the surgeon and facility and watched all the youtube videos i could find on the clinic.

was i nervous? sure. all i can say is, you are NEVER left alone. someone from dr. almanza's staff is always with you. i was scared when i got there because i had to leave my group of people i was having my surgery with to go have a special xray and a different clinic. i asked the driver if he was coming in and waiting for me and he said, "of course!"

dr. almanza always has a driver available to you to pick you up from the airport, taking you to the clinic, taking you to the hotel, taking you back to the clinic to get your iv and drain removed. the drivers will also take you shopping if you feel up to it. i didn't feel up to it.

some people in my group felt comfortable enough to go shopping on their own. i wouldn't have done that.

dr. almanza makes it as safe as possible because this is how he makes his living. he can't have patients being robbed and killed... bad for business!

while at the clinic, i couldn't sleep. i think even the night time nurse may have been napping. i walked around the clinic and walked to the front door. curiosity had me wondering if the door was locked or unlocked. it was locked and there was no handle on the outside of the door... you had to be buzzed in. and they also had cameras all over.

you will be fine. i'm a female that went alone and had to separate from my group for an hour and i totally felt safe!!

very good point! Hoping Dr Joya feels the same lol

ugh I hate my family right now... my grandparents still don't know and I'm avoiding that one like the plague right now... I can't take anymore especially with my mom being the icing on the cake..

Ugh, I live in Chicago in the good ole USA, would you care to guess the murders/robberies, etc on a daily basis? :)

But I get your reservations and nervousness, TRUST ME! lol

Wow I didn't realize the crime problems of Thunder Bay were caused solely by the people from the reserves, interesting . . .

I vacationed in Peurta Vallarta last year and got sleeved in Tijuana this March. You will be totally safe. In PVR we left our gated resort and went shopping downtown (me and another female). We actually were going to take the bus but it was so hot waiting we took a cab. So two single (attractive) females and a male can driver we felt totally safe. The driver even offered us a tour of the city and tequila factories and gave us his card. I had the same pleasant experience in TJ. We actually walked around after we checked into the Lucerna. I had a Gatorade and we hung out at Starbucks. Sorry your family is not supportive. You will find plenty of support here :)

That's awesome, thanks for your support :)

I have been to cozumel Mexico on a scuba diving trip (but I was with about 20 people) we ventured off our resort and felt safe. And I also wondered around the Bahamas off our live-a-board diving boat by myself or with a friend and felt semi-safe there too... there were security guards everywhere stopping to see if we were okay literally every 5 minutes. I guess maybe just reading about some of those stories about the hospitals just kind of gave me the hee-bee-gee-bees

No but your intention was clear. I don't think your opinions on a race of people belong on this great website, we are here to give support & advice. As a Native person, I don't appreciate the insinuation, I came to your thread to give you support.

You are entitled to your opinion, as am I. You do not live here and are unaware of what is happening here to begin with (drug issues which leads to theft). I have worked on a fly in reserve for 2 years. Don't presume you know me or my city, or make assumptions about my opinions or beliefs. I work with murderers everyday... I see it all.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
