Going Back To Work

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am new here and just got my date - dec 4! I was wondering how long people were out of work. I am planning on a week out but didn't know if that was unrealistic. I am 30 and work a low stress desk job.

Hello. I have the same type job. I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the next Wednesday. I was fine, just tired at the end of the day. Just listen to your body.

how long are people were out of work.

NEWBIES

some people are extremely tired, weak, sore, "maybe" a little nautious after being sleeved.

you are having WLS on a Monday - staying out of work for a week is a reasonable amount of time....some people have no problems, tired etc. - go back in 3-4 days - while others a couple of weeks +

how was that for a direct answer/ sorry bud  ;)

bottom line - you can't know when you will be able to go back to work - til after WLS - and see how you feel :)

if you have the time, rest a bit at home, take it easy - you just had major surgery, don't rush back to work, and then possibly have a relapse

good luck with WLS

have a great recovery :)

I got sleeved oct 22, originally told my boss I needed at least one week off. Was sleeved on a monday, came back the next Tuesday. On Wednesday I was very nauseous and weak, had to leave early and take the next day off too. I had unrealistic expectations about recovery, I think. I've had a much harder time than I expected, but I expected i would be good as new in about a week so that is pretty unrealistic haha. Everyone is different, some have no problem going back in a week while I on the other hand have really struggled. Just listen to your body and take it easy. Congrats on this new adventure! :)

I saved up my vacation time so that I had 2 weeks that I could take. I took them and I don't regret it. Sure, I could have gone back in a week but I feel better this way. I head back on Monday and figure I'll probably do at least a few shorter days. I'm not rushing it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
